Letters to My Friend π€
20: Nobody Really Has It Figured Out
Dear Friend,
Can I tell you something nobody really warned us about growing up?
Nobody actually knows what they're doing.
Okay, maybe some people look like they do.
They have the job.
The relationship.
The business.
The beautiful pictures.
The five-year plan.
Meanwhile, you're somewhere thinking,
βWait... am I supposed to know what I'm doing by now?β
Some days, you feel twenty steps ahead.
You have a plan. You know what you want. You feel confident about where you're going.
And then, other days, you stare at your life and quietly ask,
βGod, is this really the plan?β
And honestly?
Maybe that's part of growing up.
You learn.
You unlearn.
You make mistakes.
You start again.
You change your mind.
You discover things about yourself you didn't know before.
You outgrow things you once thought you'd never leave behind. You find yourself standing at new crossroads, trying to figure out which direction to take.
And somehow, in the middle of all of this, you're expected to have everything figured out.
But maybe life was never supposed to be that neat.
Maybe we're allowed to be works in progress.
Maybe you're not behind simply because your life doesn't look like someone else's.
Maybe you don't need to have the next ten years mapped out before you can take the next step.
God doesn't ask you to understand everything before you trust Him.
Jesus said:
βTake therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.β
β Matthew 6:34 (KJV)
That doesn't mean we shouldn't plan, dream, prepare, or work toward something.
It simply means tomorrow was never ours to carry today.
So, dear friend...
If you don't know exactly where your life is going, breathe.
You're learning.
If you've changed your plans, breathe.
You're growing.
If your journey looks nothing like you imagined, breathe.
God is still God.
You don't need to know the entire route to take the next step.
Sometimes, faith looks less like having a detailed map and more like saying,
βLord, I don't know where this is going, but I trust You enough to keep walking.β
And that's what growing up really is:
Learning to walk with God while admitting,
βLord, I honestly don't know what I'm doing.β
And somehow...
He does.
Reflection πΏ
What part of your future have you been stressing over because you feel like you should already have it figured out?
Prayer π€
Father, when I feel lost in the uncertainty of growing up, remind me that You are not lost. When I don't understand the road ahead, help me trust the One who does. Teach me to stop carrying tomorrow before it arrives and to be faithful with what You have placed before me today. Lead me one step at a time, and help me remember that I don't have to have everything figured out when I have You. Amen.
With hope always,
Your Friend. π€
