THE DAY THE TRUTH FINALLY CAME OUT

It was a bright Monday morning. I woke up early, brushed my teeth, took my bath, and got ready for school. I was happy because we had a class test that day. I had studied well and was ready to do my best.

When I got to school, I saw my friends talking near the classroom. I greeted them and went inside. After a few minutes, our teacher, Mr. James, came into the class. He greeted us and told us to bring out our pens.

“Today, we are going to have a short test,” he said.

Everyone became quiet. Mr. James gave us the test papers, and we started writing.

After about thirty minutes, I finished my work and submitted my paper. I felt happy because I knew I had done well.

The next day, something strange happened.

Our teacher came into the class with the test papers. He looked serious.

“Someone took my answer sheet from my table,” he said.

The whole class became quiet.

“I kept the answer sheet in my drawer yesterday, but when I came back, it was gone.”

Nobody said anything.

Mr. James asked us if we knew anything about it. Everyone said no.

Then one of my classmates, Daniel, stood up.

“Sir, I saw Michael near your table yesterday,” he said.

Everyone looked at Michael.

Michael quickly said, “Sir, I did not take anything.”

But some students started whispering that Michael was the one who took it.

Mr. James looked at Michael and asked him again. Michael still said he knew nothing about the missing paper.

I felt bad for him because I knew he was not the type of person to steal. I wanted to say something, but I was afraid.

During break time, I went outside and saw Daniel talking with another student. I heard Daniel say, “Nobody will know what happened.”

I became curious. I walked closer and asked, “What are you talking about?”

Daniel became quiet.

Then he looked at me and said, “Please don't tell anyone.”

I asked him what he had done.

After a short silence, Daniel told me the truth. He had taken the answer sheet because he wanted to see the answers before the test. He later became afraid and hid it inside an old box behind the classroom.

I was shocked.

I told Daniel that what he did was wrong and that Michael was being blamed for something he did not do.

Daniel looked down and became sorry.

When we returned to class, Daniel walked to Mr. James and told him everything. He showed him where he had hidden the answer sheet.

The classroom became very quiet.

Mr. James thanked Daniel for telling the truth, but he also explained that taking the paper was wrong. He apologized to Michael for the trouble.

Michael smiled and accepted his apology.

That day, I learned an important lesson. Sometimes telling the truth can be difficult, especially when we are afraid of getting into trouble. But the truth is always better than a lie.

A lie may hide a problem for a short time, but the truth will always find its way out.

That was the day the truth finally came out, and I will never forget it.
