SELF-SUFFICIENCY AND INNER HAPPINESS

You are complete just as you are. You don't need anyone else to make you whole. Everything you need for survival is within you not in the company of others. This is not a motivation but a state of self-realization. When you process and understand this, you are free from anxiety or fear of being along. It is this fear that pushes you to do things you don’t want to do, stay in relationship you don’t want to be. Self-worth comes in only when you know who you are, and what you are capable of doing. When I understand my self-worth, I easily grow from being captivated in thought, and embark on a journey of self-discovery and self-development. That you are complete just as you are does not means you should be proud or arrogant. Rather, it means setting standard, principles and building integrity for yourself that cannot be broken by you and other people. This standards are only set when you find yourself alone, when you are in solitude. This alone time, you can notice your thoughts, your dreams, your passion, your drives, and your fears. You can’t reflect or meditate in motion, you need a solitude to do that. No wonder we all find it difficult in today’s world to identify who we are. We struggle with self identity, we try to do and use certain thing to help in describing ourselves. We don’t even know who we are, and what we are capable of. We are constantly moving. Either we are working or having fun, listening to music or podcast, running or walking, watching movies or strolling through social media, cooking or cleaning, dancing or talking. So heavy on activities that we find it difficult to sit, identify and describes ourselves. So first step to embracing alone time is understanding self-worth, which comes through self-discovery. Not that I don’t want others around me, I love and appreciate their support. But without them, I keep moving and with them, it’s complimentary to my effort not a necessity.

It’s also important to understand that people will not always welcome your company every time, people will not always be around you, not because you are a bad person. But sometimes you just find yourself alone. Which is not a big deal, in fact its’s a blessing and not a curse, but what you do with this period is what makes it either a blessing or curse. Some people experience boredom and learn a skill and some choose to post on social media “I am bored”, “VC anyone”? Some choose to create plans for themselves and some request for visitation. It’s usually not what happen, it is what you do about it that makes the difference, two people might experience same problem but have different mindset or approach and get different result.

Note am not saying that you should always decline company of others, or reject help from others, the mindset I am suggesting is to see solitude as a process self-discovery. Which most time, might be uncomfortable, but push through the discomfort because on the other side is self-understanding and transformation of your life.
