In days when moving on becomes impossible,
Days when strength fails to come,
Reeling deep in pain
But finding it difficult to express,
The times you sit in bed, wondering slowly,
Can life get any harder?
Days when pretending to be better
Takes the better part of us.
Smiling through agony,
Winning with tears,
Helping with none for you.
Days when the memories refuse to leave,
When the silence screams louder than words,
When you wish you could turn back the hands of time
And undo the things that left you broken.
When your heart holds on
To something your mind knows is gone,
And letting go feels like losing
A part of yourself you cannot replace.
But you sit up regardless,
Keep your head high.
No one talks down on a powerhouse.
Yet, my friend,
Even powerhouses grow weary.
Even the strongest hands sometimes tremble.
You don't always have to hide your pain
Just to prove that you are strong.
You are allowed to hurt,
To miss what you once had,
To cry over what could have been,
And to take your time finding yourself again.
Now, these days are what make a person:
The ability to put all that behind,
To see beyond the pain of today,
And believe that tomorrow might be kinder.
Holding on tight to hope
Like snow on mountains,
Breathing in instead of holding your breath,
Learning that surviving is sometimes enough.
That makes you, my friend,
Someone no one can conquer.
And when the days feel darker
Than you ever thought they could,
I hope you remember
That you don't have to face them all alone.
You may not see the light just yet,
But that doesn't mean it isn't coming.
And I'm always rooting
For life to get better for you.
