She Was Tired of Being Broke
poem

She Was Tired of Being Broke

She was tired of counting coins

before she bought what she needed,

tired of watching her dreams grow hungry

while her responsibilities kept feeding.

She was tired of saying,

“Maybe next month,”

when she wanted something today.

Tired of pretending she didn't care

when another opportunity slipped away.

But she wasn't ashamed of wanting more.

She wanted a better house,

a fuller account,

a life where emergencies

didn't feel like the end of the world.

She wanted to travel without calculating

every expense three times.

She wanted to wake up one morning

and realize that survival

was no longer her daily assignment.

So she made a decision.

She would stop waiting for rescue.

She learned.

She failed.

She tried again.

She turned her ideas into plans,

her plans into work,

and her work into something valuable.

Some nights were lonely.

Some mornings were discouraging.

There were days when success

looked like a distant country

she might never reach.

But she kept moving.

She stopped spending

to impress people who didn't care.

She stopped comparing her beginning

to someone else's middle.

She started investing in herself.

And slowly, something changed.

She stopped spending

to impress people who didn't care.

She stopped comparing her beginning

to someone else's middle.

She started investing in herself.

And slowly, something changed.

The woman who once whispered,

“I can't afford it,”

began saying,

“I'll make a way.”

Not because money suddenly appeared,

but because she had finally discovered

that her greatest asset

was the mind she had been underestimating.

She wasn't chasing money

just to become rich.

She was chasing freedom.

Freedom to choose.

Freedom to leave.

Freedom to give.

Freedom to rest.

Freedom to live without constantly fearing tomorrow.

And one day,

when her hard work finally began to pay off,

she remembered the woman

who once cried over an empty account.

She smiled.

She didn't become lucky.

She became intentional.

She didn't wait for life to change.

She changed the way she lived,

and eventually,

her life changed with her.
