THE QUIET ALCHEMY OF GROWTH

On that breezy Sunday evening, one of those days I was in my thoughts as l laid on my bed all wrapped up while thinking about something very profound "The diversity of been in your 30s" the very delicate aspect of connecting with your own identity, more like self-absorption and for the very first time the word "Growth" hit my mind differently and then it got even clearer how that "Growth" rarely announces itself.

Growth does not always arrive with a dramatic breakthrough, a life changing decision, or a moment when everything suddenly makes sense. Sometimes it happens so quietly that we do not even recognise. Growth is rarely comfortable because it asks us to meet ourselves without the disguises we have grown accustomed to wearing. Sometimes it asks us to admit that we were wrong, or to acknowledge that we stayed too long, other times it asks us to forgive ourselves for choices we made when we simply did not know better and sometimes it means accepting that closure will not always come from another person, and that we must create it within ourselves.

There is also something beautiful in realising that growth does not always look impressive from the outside. Perhaps you are learning to respond instead of reacting, or say "NO" without guilt, and to rest without apology. The thirties teach a subtle art, the art of drawing the curtains on what disturbs the spirit. Not from boredom, not from withdrawal, not from an inability to enjoy the fullness of life but from finally recognising the shape of what steals your peace.

The shouting, the excess needless drama, the toxic environment, the ceaseless distraction and the places that leaves the soul more crowded than before. Questions begin to rise like small bells in the mind. Does this nourish me? Does this identity reflect the person I am becoming?

And most times, the answer is "NO", So our choices change; A quiet corner becomes more inviting than a crowded room. The exact kind of self-absorption that arrives with your thirties, not selfishness, but self-recognition "Perhaps this is one of the quiet miracles of growing older".

The greatest evidence of growth lies in the silent choices we've made. Life will continue to change us, some experiences will soften us, others will strengthen us, some will humble us, and a few may break our hearts open in ways we never expected. Growth is not about becoming a completely different person. It is about becoming more self-aware of your true identity. The process may be slow; some transformations happen beneath the surface long before they become visible. Like an alchemist quietly working with ordinary elements, life takes our losses, mistakes, disappointments, hopes, and lessons, and transforms them into something valuable. That is the quiet alchemy of growth; not becoming perfect, but becoming wiser, softer where you need to be, stronger where you must be, and brave enough to keep becoming. Growth is an "ARTWORK" of your authentic self.
