THE YOU IN YOU
There is something unique about every human being. You may look like someone else, have similar talents, or share the same environment with another person, but there is still something about you that cannot be completely duplicated. God created you with a purpose, identity, gifts, and abilities. This is “the you in you.”
The “you in you” represents the person God created you to become—the potential, gifts, character, purpose, and abilities He placed inside you. Unfortunately, many people spend their lives trying to become someone else instead of discovering and developing who God created them to be.
DISCOVERING WHO YOU ARE
Before people can appreciate you, you must first understand who you are. The Bible says, “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14). This means that your existence is not an accident...God intentionally created you.
You may have weaknesses, but your weaknesses do not cancel your value. You may not possess the gifts that someone else has, but that does not make you inferior. God gives different gifts to different people.
Paul explains this through the example of the human body. The body has many parts, and each part has a different function (1 Corinthians 12:12–27). In the same way, everyone has a unique role to play in God's plan.
DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF WITH OTHERS
One of the greatest enemies of discovering the you in you is comparison. When you constantly compare yourself with others, you may begin to despise what God has placed inside you.
You may look at another person's success and think, “I wish I were like him.” You may see someone's talent and believe that you have nothing valuable. But remember, you were not created to be another person—you were created to be you.
Galatians 6:4 says, “But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.”
Instead of asking, “Why am I not like this person?” ask, “What has God placed inside me?”
DEVELOP WHAT IS INSIDE YOU
Having potential is not enough. Potential must be discovered, developed, and used. Jesus told His disciples that a servant who received one talent but refused to develop it was held accountable (Matthew 25:14–30). This teaches us that God expects us to use what He has given us.
Perhaps you can sing, write, teach, preach, organize, create, encourage people, solve problems, or lead others. Whatever God has placed inside you, develop it.
Do not bury your gift because you are afraid of failure. Do not allow criticism to convince you that you have nothing to offer. Start where you are and grow from there.
LET GOD SHAPE THE YOU IN YOU
Discovering yourself is important, but discovering yourself "in God" is even more important. Your gifts should not only make you successful; they should also glorify God and bless others.
Romans 12:2 teaches us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. As you walk with God, He shapes your character, corrects your weaknesses, and helps you become the person He designed you to be.
The “you in you” is not simply about talent, it is also about character. Your kindness, integrity, discipline, faith, courage, and love are part of what makes you who you are.
In conclusion, there is greatness inside you, but greatness must be discovered and developed. Do not spend your life trying to become someone else. Discover what God has placed inside you, develop it faithfully, and use it to serve Him and humanity.
Remember the words of Paul in Ephesians 2:10: “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works.”
You are God's workmanship. There is a reason you were created. There is a purpose attached to your life. Discover the you in you, Develop the you in you, and allow God to use the you in you for His glory.
