Nothing Uncovered
poem

Nothing Uncovered

Nothing uncovered, nothing left behind,

Every hidden thought is brought into the light.

The secrets we buried deep inside the mind

Rise like shadows at the ending of the night.

There are words we swallowed, afraid to speak,

There are tears we hid behind a smiling face,

There are moments when the heart felt weak,

Yet we pretended everything was in its place.

But nothing stays hidden forever in the end,

No matter how carefully we hide the truth.

Time has a way of becoming our friend,

Revealing what was buried in our youth.

The walls may stand, the doors may close,

And silence may pretend that all is well,

But every secret has a way it shows,

And every truth has a story it must tell.

Nothing uncovered means the mask must fall,

The perfect image slowly disappears.

The strongest person may have fears after all,

And the bravest heart may still hold tears.

We hide our failures beneath words of pride,

We hide our sorrow beneath careless laughter.

We hide the storms that rage inside

And tell ourselves that peace will follow after.

But truth does not vanish when we turn away,

Nor does pain disappear because we smile.

What we refuse to face will choose to stay,

Waiting patiently for another while.

So let the truth come gently into view,

Let every buried feeling have its voice.

Let broken pieces finally become new,

And let the wounded heart be given choice.

There is no shame in what the years reveal,

No weakness in admitting that we fell.

Sometimes honesty is the way we heal,

Sometimes the truth is what breaks the spell.

Nothing uncovered, every scar exposed,

Every chapter opened, every page made clear.

The things we thought would always stay closed

Can finally lose their power over fear.

The past may carry memories we regret,

Names and faces we would rather forget,

But every lesson that the years have set

Can shape the person we are becoming yet.

Nothing uncovered, nothing left unknown,

The darkness slowly gives way to light.

The heart no longer has to stand alone,

Or carry every secret through the night.

Perhaps we were afraid of being seen,

Afraid that truth would make us less than whole.

But underneath the places we have been

Lives something stronger than the wounded soul.

So uncover every dream you pushed away,

Every hope you buried underneath despair.

Uncover every word you meant to say,

And every love you were too scared to share.

Let the truth be honest, even when it hurts,

Let it wash the dust from yesterday.

For healing sometimes begins when silence breaks

And what was hidden finally finds its way.

Nothing uncovered, yet nothing destroyed,

For truth can build where lies have left a scar.

What once was feared can leave the heart employed

In finding out just how resilient we are.

And when the final secret meets the sun,

When every hidden corner has been shown,

We may discover that the hardest part is done,

We were never truly broken or alone.

Nothing uncovered, nothing left behind,

No shadow strong enough to hide the truth.

The heart can finally breathe with an open mind,

And begin again with courage, hope, and youth.

So let the light reveal what darkness knew,

Let every hidden chapter come undone.

For when there is nothing left to hide from view,

There is nothing left to fear beneath the sun.
