The process of deserving, simply means, you desire to take responsibility for your life, to be prepare, take action in alignment with your personality and wait patiently for result. In this process, you naturally become someone you attract success not through luck, but through discipline, hard work and smart work. This process involves taking actions not just crossing arms and waiting for miracle or lucky moment. First step to deserving, is understanding self-worth, most people never do, they never see how important they are to a group even to themselves, and that is where self-degradation start, why will someone choose to be a beggar? That each person must see their selves valuable enough to make important contribution to any group. Wherever I find myself, I see myself as a king not as subject to anybody, not arrogance or pride, but that am important to make a value contribution, making sure I add a positive contribution.
One of John F. Kennedy Famous Message:
"Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country".
That for my growth and that of my society, I must see myself reasonable enough, to think of a way, of solving problems and not just waiting for the next man to solve the problem for me. My willingness to take responsibility therefore bring growth to all.
HOW DO I START THIS DESERVING PROCESS?
REALIZATION OF ONES' SELF WORTH
There is a fictional man, he’s alone, broke, homeless hungry, forgotten, and barely surviving. Whenever he walk past things he do not have, he imagine he own it, constantly dreaming big, but at that current stage, all is seeking is survival. For now all his searching is shelter and daily food, what else will a homeless man be searching for. Later he died of malnutrition and starvation. Here is the twist, just like he’s wishing for riches, and searching for survival, a lawyer was searching for him, his grandmother who died, 15 years ago as left a life changing fortune for him before she die. Maybe the lawyer found his corpse or not, am not sure, which not really important in this context. My opinion, we human being have two instincts that direct us, first is the survival instinct, and the second is the purpose-drive instinct, and I promise you, must of us are always seeking for survival, that we all forget our purpose on earth. We are constantly running away from danger out of fear, seeking for food, self-preservation, and pressure to belong to a social group that we just don’t remember to seek for our purpose. The fictional young was more focus on surviving that he never imagine he could have a rich family or not. And I can hear you saying “maybe he’s not aware” who cares if he’s aware or not, the point is you are responsible for your life, you can choose to take charge or blame things you have to live with. Most people will prefer to say there is no chance for them in life rather than trying.
The state of self-realization is important in process of deserving, that you are able to identify yourself as valuable enough to make changes. Let us relate that fictional man’s life to an individual, having all the potential to become a great person, yet failing to discover it simply because you’re too lazy to look inside yourself, or maybe you deserve more and you decide to settle for less. One famous bible verse say, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Your realization then gives you a direct, which now become your purpose that am not just here to survive. That whenever I need, I have a role, to ask before it will be giving to me. A person will ask, why do I need to ask? “God already knowns what I want” Yes he knowns, but you have the free will to choose what you want for your live, you can decide to go north or east, that is why you are human, you can control your will. Seek and ye shall find, what if all opportunity just go, just because you fail to identity you role of seeking. Knocking, falling and standing up, showing up every time after each set back, that if you constantly knock on opportunities door after so many rejection the door might open. This is one of the process of deserving and not just waiting for luck, but realizing that I have a purpose and duty in order for me to deserve.
SERVING
We all have big wishes, I wish to be the richest man on earth, I wish to successful, I wish to be love by all, I wish to be a leader, and I wish to be respected by all. All I wish is okay, self-love, self-care is okay, but service to other also means service to one self.
There is something a true leader understands, that leadership is not about ego, position, or showing power. It is a privilege, a chance to serve others. For instance, I want to be a successful business owner, what do I need to do to be successful? First, I find a way to serve people by identifying their problem, and then help in solving problems through my service, then am valuable, and in return, I deserve the reward that comes. The mother of James and John, made a request for her sons to sit on two thrones beside Jesus. That’s not selfishness, that a mother who believed in the worth of her children. Jesus reply was simple there is not bad in wanting that but can you handle what comes with it? “Of course, why not just to sit in position of honor.” Maybe that is what you think but let me tell you a little secret “Whoever wants to become great must be a servant. Whoever wants to be first must be a slave. Even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.”
In other words, service is what puts you in the place of deserving what you want. Service is what qualifies you for greatness. Even when the assignment given to you is small, do it exceptionally. Handle the little perfectly, and you qualify for more. You become worthy to rule over many.
Greatness is not just a wish it’s a responsibility. And the first step is simple: and one of the step is service others, that’s how you rise.
GIVING
The law of sowing and reaping is real. If I’m willing to plant my seed in the soil and the soil is fertile, it will give me back a harvest in multiple folds. That’s how life works. To truly deserve anything, you don’t start by focusing on what you want to receive. You start by becoming a giver. When you understand your self-worth, you’ll realize that givers naturally lead, while receivers depend on the giver.
So why is giving part of the process of deserving?
Because life operates on principles. We don’t get what we complain about; we get what we invest into. For me to become a graduate, I had to give my time, my mind, my effort, and my money. In return, I deserved my certificate. If I want a good relationship with people, I must give them my time, attention, and value before I can expect a genuine relationship in return. I can’t sit down waiting to receive, I have to sow something first.
The world rarely responds to someone who offers no value. If all you want to do is receive, people will naturally avoid you. It’s not because you’re a bad person, but because you’ve become a taker. Tell a chronic receiver that “it’s better to give than to receive,” and they won’t understand it. Their whole life revolves around searching for who will give them something. If you don’t give them what they want, you instantly become someone they criticize.
But once you understand the law of sowing and reaping, you step into the process of deserving. You stop waiting to receive and seek to become someone valuable enough to contribute, to give, to plant.
Giving must come with caution. You shouldn’t give just for recognition, and you shouldn’t let generosity enslave you. Giving must be genuine. And while giving is powerful, it should never push you into unnecessary hardship or self-destruction.
