Life is full of uncertainties. At one point it's serene and the next it's not. There are battles that we witness and there are battles that we don't realize is taking place around us. There are dangers we know of, but there are dangers of which we may never have known that we were protected from. In all these, there is a sense of security each believer should want to be in: God's covering.
To be under His covering is to be near to Him. It's to believe in His wisdom, even if we don't comprehend His ways. It is to seek His presence before taking a decision, and to rely on Him when our strength is lacking. All the problems we encounter are not a result of God's covering, but rather our own. Instead, it is about not being faced by ourselves.
The Bible says in Psalm 91:1, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” See the word “dwelleth.” It is a reference to staying, remaining and living in the presence of God. Do not run to God when there is trouble, and leave Him when things are fine. The words of the Lord call us to stay.
Success can cause people to forget God sometimes. If they're answered, their prayers become active. The doors close and they cease to look for the One who opened them. As things get better, the need for God can fade away. The same God that did for you in the tough times is the God that you need in the times of plenty.
Stay in His protection.
If you are misunderstood, stay under His covering. If opportunities are postponed, stay under His roof. If you don't make it, stay under His covering! If you feel disappointed stay under His covering. Stay in His blessing when you get the blessing.
Avoid letting temporary situations keep you from being eternally dependent on God.
His covering can be the peace you are looking for when there is none around you. It can provide strength to overcome fear. It can provide understanding when you don't know where to turn. Can remind you that your life isn't limited to what you see.
There will be times that you may feel like nobody is looking out for you, but God is looking out for you. At times you will not know what He is doing, but His silence does not mean that He is not there. There are times when God is doing things in your life which you can't see.
So, watch your relationship with Him. Pray. Study His Word. Walk in obedience. Humbleness of the heart. Get to know people who are helping you to grow spiritually. Don't pay attention to what the world has to offer in place of God's goodness.
The world may have a lot of hiding places, but only God can give your soul what it needs.
Therefore, during whatever season you are in, stay in His covering! When life is good, cling to Him, when life is bad, cling to Him. When the road is clear, trust Him; when you can't see the next step, trust Him.
You never know what tomorrow brings, but you do know who brings tomorrow!
Stay in His shadow; there is strength, peace, guidance and hope in His presence.
