It all started on a Monday morning.
Daniel was sitting in his classroom when his phone vibrated. He checked the screen and saw a message from an unknown number.
“Be careful. Someone around you is not telling the truth.”
Daniel stared at the message.
“Who is this?” he typed.
There was no reply.
At first, Daniel thought it was a joke. Maybe one of his friends was trying to scare him. He put the phone away and continued with his lesson.
But the next morning, another message came.
“Check the old notice board after school.”
This time, Daniel became curious.
After school, he walked to the old notice board behind the school library. It was rarely used. Most of the papers on it were old and covered with dust.
Daniel looked around.
There was no one there.
He searched the board and found a small piece of paper hidden behind an old poster.
It had only one sentence:
“You are closer than you think.”
Daniel's heart beat faster.
He quickly put the paper in his pocket and went home.
That night, another message appeared.
“Do not trust everyone who calls you a friend.”
Daniel began to wonder if someone was watching him.
The next day, he told his best friend, Michael, about the messages.
Michael laughed.
“Maybe someone is just playing a game with you.”
“Then why won't the person tell me who they are?” Daniel asked.
“I don't know,” Michael replied.
For the next few days, the messages continued.
Some were simple.
“Look inside your old mathematics book.”
Another said:
“Remember what happened last Friday.”
Daniel followed the clues carefully. In his mathematics book, he found a small photograph from a school event. On the back of the photograph was a date and the words:
“You forgot this day.”
Daniel remembered the event. It was the day his class had collected money for a school project. Some of the money had gone missing.
Daniel suddenly became worried.
Could the messages be connected to that missing money?
He told his teacher about everything. The teacher asked him not to make any quick accusations.
That afternoon, Daniel received one final message.
“Come to the library at 4 p.m. Come alone.”
Daniel was nervous, but he decided to go with his teacher waiting nearby.
When he entered the library, he saw someone sitting at the back.
It was Michael.
Daniel was shocked.
“You?” he asked.
Michael stood up slowly.
“Yes.”
Daniel could not believe it.
Michael explained that he had been sending the messages because he had discovered something about the missing money. He had seen another student take it but was afraid to speak because he did not know what would happen.
“I wanted you to find the truth without putting you in danger,” Michael said.
Daniel was surprised.
“So all those strange messages were from you?”
Michael nodded.
The next day, they told the teacher everything. After checking the facts, the teacher found out what had really happened.
Daniel learned an important lesson that week.
Not every mystery has a scary ending. Sometimes, the truth is simply hiding behind fear, silence, and misunderstanding.
And sometimes, the person behind the anonymous message is not an enemy at all.
Sometimes, it is someone trying to lead you toward the truth.
