Nigeria at 66: Still We Rise

Sixty-six years of our living in the world,

A country has been formed and a journey has started.

From all the tribes, from all the lands,

But together hand in hand.

Nigeria Land of hope and dreams,

A country more powerful than you think.

While the moon was bloody red in the night sky,

We keep on moving in various ways.

We've walked a million paces on our roads,

Nice harvest of sweet in our fields.

We're all special, we're all we're all the same.

A God-gifted country.

We have experienced suffering, sorrow and fear,

But our faith is nonetheless undefeated.

In the days of trouble and tumult,

The Nigerian spirit is saying, “We'll go.”

To all the youth who dream of the dream,

To each child who comes asking for his place,

What is to come can be constructed with your hands,

Then, the brave have gone where the courage is.

At the age of 66, we peer back,

But let tomorrow be a day of giving thanks.

For Nigeria’s story is not through,

There is still much for us to do.

Let peace be many-fold in our hearts,

May justice be revealed in the darkness.

May love overcome divisions,

And let our strength be multiplied.

Nigeria, 66, stand up!

Let hope be manifest to all our eyes.

Through faith, sweat and togetherness,

May you be all you can be.

Nigeria 66th Independence Day Celebration!

Still standing. Still hopeful. Still rising.
