Who Am I Meant to Be?
Am I who I’m truly meant to be,
Or just a reflection of what they want to see?
Am I walking the path that was made for me,
Or following footsteps I never chose to be?
Are my dreams really mine to hold,
Or are they expectations I’ve been told?
Do I want these things with all of my heart,
Or did someone else decide where I should start?
Do people truly care about me,
Or only love the person they expect me to be?
If I stumble, will they stay by my side,
Or quietly leave when I cannot hide?
Sometimes I wonder about tomorrow,
Will it bring peace, or another kind of sorrow?
Will everything somehow fall into place,
Or will I keep searching for my own space?
Who am I beneath every name they call me?
Who am I when nobody is watching me?
When the noise disappears and the world becomes still,
Will I finally hear the voice of my own will?
Maybe I don’t have every answer today,
Maybe it’s okay to feel lost along the way.
Perhaps becoming myself takes time,
Through every mistake, every mountain I climb.
So I’ll keep searching, patiently,
For the person I was always meant to be.
Not who they demand, not who they see—
But the person waiting quietly inside of me.
