You said the word "promise"
Like it was a gift...
Something precious...
Something meant to last.
And I -
I held it carefully
Like a candle in the wind.
"I will be there".
And I believed you.
But promises ...
promise nothing
when they are made with empty hearts.
You said you wouldn't leave,
Yet your absence,
learned the road better than your footsteps ever did.
Trust?
Trust is a bridge-
And you left me standing,
On one half - built.
Do you know what a broken promise feels like?
It feels like reaching out...
And touching nothing.
It feels like waiting
For a door that never opens.
Like waking up inside yesterday's disappointment.
But listen...
I'm still here,
Still standing.
A broken promise,
does not break me,
It shapes me,
It sharpens me.
I am the strength,
that grows where trust once fell,
I am the voice,
that rises after silence,
I am the truth,
Behind every empty vows.
So keep your broken promise,
I'm building something stronger...
Something that last.
You were a lesson...
not a limit.
My future stands firm-
because it's made of things that don't break.
And now I walk forward,
without carrying yesterday on my shoulders.
I have learned that some endings
are simply doors to another beginning.
I will not chase what chose to disappear,
or mourn what refused to remain.
My heart may remember,
but it will no longer live there.
The pieces you left behind
became pieces I learned to understand.
And from those pieces,
I found a new shape of myself.
Your promise may have ended,
but my story did not.
I choose tomorrow,
I choose courage,
I choose to believe in myself again.
The silence you left behind
will become the space where my voice grows.
And when I look back someday,
I will not see only what was lost.
I will see how far I travelled
after the promise was broken.
