HIS PERFECT WIFE 13
story

HIS PERFECT WIFE 13

‎The owner of the company was Adrian.

‎‎The day he was suppose to arrived, the entire company changed. The place was exceptionally tidy. Everything was clean, organized, and in perfect condition. Everyone was on their best behavior.

‎Then suddenly, someone came rushing in.

‎‎“He's here!”

‎‎As Adrian walked through the company, every employee stood up. I stood up too, but as I looked around, I noticed something strange.

‎‎Fear.

‎‎There was a little bit of fear in their eyes.

‎When I got a chance, I approached one of the employees who had always been kind to me.

‎‎“Why is everyone so worked up today? The boss just came in, didn't say anything, and simply walked past. Why is everybody so tense?”

‎‎She looked at me.

‎‎“You're just an honorary intern. Mind your business.”

‎‎I left and went to Rachel.

‎‎“I noticed it too,” she said.

‎‎Later that day, while we were going home, Rachel explained what she had heard about Adrian. Whenever he came into the country, she said, he usually came for two things.

‎‎First, to sack employees.

‎‎According to her, Adrian was cold and hot tempered. He wouldn't hesitate to dismiss anyone he felt wasn't performing well.

‎‎Second, he came to cut the budget.

‎‎His decisions could increase or reduce the employees' benefits and ultimately affect their well being.

‎‎That was why everyone was nervous. The next day, another announcement was made. There would be a small company dinner to welcome Adrian back, and everyone was expected to attend. I was excited, but I also had a problem. Every night, I went home to take care of Mama. How was I going to leave her? I couldn't abandon her, but I also wanted to attend. It was my first company dinner.

‎‎Eventually, I decided I would go and leave when it became extremely late.

‎I got ready. I didn't have anything special to wear, so I simply wore what I had.

‎‎When I arrived, there were drinks and food everywhere. Then I saw something I hadn't had in a very long time.

‎‎Alcohol.

‎‎I took a sip.

‎‎“Wow. It's been a long time.”

‎‎With everything I had been going through, I kept drinking. And drinking. Until I became completely drunk. At some point, I remembered Mama. I had to go home. I stood up, but in my drunken state, I forgot everything my bag, purse, phone, even my identity documents.I simply stumbled toward the exit.

Then I bumped into someone.

‎I was too drunk to realize who he was.

‎‎I barely remember what happened after that.

‎‎The next thing I clearly remembered was opening my eyes in an unfamiliar room.

‎‎I was lying on a bed, and I was no longer dressed. Adrian was sleeping beside me.

‎Fear immediately rushed through me.

‎‎I remembered everything the employees had told me about him.

‎‎I didn't know what had happened during the night. I quietly got out of the bed, gathered my clothes and belongings that I could find, and left.

‎‎I didn't wake him.

‎‎I didn't say anything.

‎‎I simply disappeared.

‎‎I went straight home, carrying the weight of fear, confusion, and unanswered questions with me.

‎Mama was waiting for me.

‎‎And she had no idea what had happened.
