Joan Laporta Sets Barcelona Ambitious Target: ‘We Want to Win It All’
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has made the club’s ambitions for the 2026/27 season crystal clear, declaring that the Catalan giants are aiming to win every major competition available to them.
Laporta has set his sights on a remarkable clean sweep of trophies, with Barcelona targeting La Liga, the Copa del Rey, the Spanish Super Cup and, most importantly, the UEFA Champions League. His comments underline the enormous expectations surrounding the club as the new campaign continues.
Speaking during Barcelona’s traditional participation in the Catalan National Day events, Laporta explained that the club had established winning all four competitions as its objective for the season. “This year we have set ourselves the objective of winning La Liga, the Copa, the Super Cup and the Champions League,” he said.
The Barcelona president also stressed the importance of maintaining concentration, commitment and a strong team spirit throughout the campaign. According to reports, Laporta believes those qualities will be essential if the squad is to compete successfully on multiple fronts.
Barcelona are entering the season with significant confidence after their recent domestic success. The club won La Liga in the previous campaign and also lifted the Spanish Super Cup, giving the team a strong platform from which to begin another challenging season.
However, Laporta knows that defending domestic honours while competing for the Champions League will require consistency. The Champions League remains one of Barcelona’s biggest ambitions, particularly because European success carries enormous importance for a club with such a strong history in the competition.
Laporta has also expressed confidence in the quality and depth of the current squad. He credited sporting director Deco for his work in building what he described as a strong and balanced team, adding that Barcelona have enough quality to cope with the demands of a long season.
That squad depth could prove particularly important as Barcelona face a demanding schedule. Domestic league matches will be played alongside Copa del Rey fixtures, the Spanish Super Cup and Champions League games, meaning the players will have to maintain their level across several competitions.
The president’s comments also place additional attention on head coach Hansi Flick. The German manager will be expected to manage the squad carefully while maintaining Barcelona’s style and competitiveness. With four major trophies being targeted, rotation and consistency could become crucial as the season progresses.
Barcelona’s ambition is not limited to domestic dominance. Laporta has made it clear that the Champions League is a particularly important objective for the club. He has previously described European success as a major source of excitement for everyone at Barcelona and said the team will work hard to try to achieve it.
The challenge, however, will be substantial. Europe’s biggest clubs will also be competing for the Champions League, while Barcelona will face strong domestic opposition throughout the Spanish season. Winning one trophy is difficult enough, while completing a clean sweep would require an exceptional level of consistency.
Laporta has therefore urged the team not to become complacent. Despite the confidence surrounding the squad, the Barcelona president has emphasised the need for humility, concentration and commitment. His message is that the players must continue working at the highest level rather than allowing a strong start to reduce their intensity.
The return of Barcelona to the renovated Camp Nou also adds another layer of excitement around the club. The stadium remains a central part of the club’s identity, and Barcelona’s long-term plans under Laporta include the continued development of the Espai Barça project and the stadium redevelopment.
Laporta himself is also beginning another term as Barcelona president after winning the club’s 2026 presidential election. The club confirmed that he secured 68.18% of the vote, giving him another mandate at the head of the institution.
With the president setting such ambitious targets, the pressure will now fall on Flick and his players to turn those expectations into performances on the pitch. Barcelona will need to remain consistent in La Liga, negotiate the knockout rounds of the Copa del Rey and compete for the Super Cup while simultaneously facing Europe’s strongest sides in the Champions League.
For Barcelona supporters, however, the message from the club’s president is straightforward. The target is not simply to compete or challenge for trophies. Laporta wants the team to go all the way in every competition.
“This season we want to win it all,” is the message coming from the Barcelona president. La Liga, the Copa del Rey, the Spanish Super Cup and the Champions League are all firmly in the club’s sights.
Whether Barcelona can achieve such an ambitious quadruple will ultimately be decided on the pitch, but Laporta has already made the club’s expectations unmistakable: Barcelona are aiming for everything in the 2026/27 season.
