UNSTOPPABLE DESTINY

Growing up in a small village, Daniel's dreams were sometimes too large for the small world in which he lived. He was quite poor by family standards, but his mother always told him that poverty was a state of affairs not a way of life.

“Don't let where you're from get in the way of where you're going,” she always said to him.

Daniel believed her.

He walked some kilometers to school each morning. His shoes were worn out, his uniform was faded and sometimes he did not eat breakfast when he came to school. His classmates ridiculed him, but he did not let that deter him. He was aware that education was his key to improvement in a better future.

One afternoon, his teacher told him that there will be an academic competition. The prize for the winner would be a scholarship to attend a city's prestigious school. Daniel very quickly agreed to take part.

But it wasn't a piece of cake to prepare for the competition. Other students used textbooks and personal tutors, Daniel used borrowed books and handwritten notes. He would study all night under a small lamp while his mother sold food along the road to help the family.

Unfortunately, a week before the competition tragedy struck. Daniel's mother fell very sick and he was forced to stay with her for a few days. His family members counseled him not to enter the competition.

One of them said, "You can't do it all at once.

But Daniel was discouraged and his mother took his hand and said, “Go and write your examination, your future must not be taken to death because of the difficulty of today.”

The words she spoke gave him strength.

Daniel had to come in late on the day of the competition as his bike had broken down. He then sprinted to the exam centre, just minutes before the doors closed.

He came in the hall, tired but resolute.

The questions were challenging but Daniel recalled all that he learned in his study. He carefully gave the correct response to every question and never resigned.

The outcome was released 20 days after.

Daniel had won.

There was a celebration all around the village. It was a boy who had been ridiculed for his old shoes that had won a scholarship that would change his life.

Years went by and Daniel became a prosperous man. He went back to his village and established a mini school for the poor children.

He stood before the children, and recalled the time when he had almost abandoned them.

“The situation was once much better than my dreams, I thought.” But I learned about destiny that may be postponed, disputed, delayed, tested, but it can never be overcome if you will not surrender to it.”

His tale was an inspiration to so many.

Daniel's journey was a valuable learning for everyone: Sometimes the path to destiny is quite full of obstacles and rejection, sometimes of disappointment and pain. However, there is no end to the journey when obstacles come along. These can sometimes be chances to find out just how strong you are.

He had very little but he had determination, faith and courage.

It was far from an easy fate.

However, there was nothing that could stop it now.
