The Afternoon of My Life
The morning came with golden light,
With dreams that danced beyond my sight;
I walked through fields of hope and grace,
With eager steps to find my place.
The sun was young, the road was wide,
And countless dreams walked by my side.
I thought the world would always stay
As bright and fresh as break of day.
But now I stand where shadows grow,
And watch the passing moments flow.
The afternoon has found my door,
And I am not the child I was before.
The sun still shines, but not as new,
Its warmth now carries lessons through.
The roads I travelled, smooth and rough,
Have taught me that I am enough.
I have known laughter, I have known tears,
I have gathered wisdom through the years.
Some dreams blossomed, some fell apart,
Yet each one left a mark upon my heart.
The afternoon is not the end;
It is a season where I mend.
It is the hour to pause and see
The person life has shaped in me.
I look behind without regret,
At all the things I can't forget.
The battles fought, the bridges crossed,
The lessons learned from what was lost.
And as the sun begins to lean,
Painting the sky in shades serene,
I realise there is beauty still
In every valley, every hill.
The afternoon of life is bright,
A different kind of golden light.
It calls me not to race ahead,
But treasure every path I tread.
So let me walk with grateful eyes,
Beneath the ever-changing skies.
Let every breath become a prayer,
And every moment something rare.
For morning gave me dreams to chase,
But afternoon has taught me grace.
And when the evening comes one day,
I'll know I lived along the way.
Until then, beneath the gentle sun,
I'll cherish all that I have done.
The journey continues, calm and wide.
With faith and hope still by my side.
