The Road Still Knows My Name
I walked a road that nobody knew,
With tired feet and a sky of blue.
The morning was quiet, the streets were wide,
And many unanswered questions walked by my side.
I carried dreams that were hard to explain,
Some filled with sunshine, some covered in rain.
I had plans that once seemed clear and bright,
But somewhere along the way, they disappeared from sight.
Still, I kept walking, step after step,
Through every failure, every regret.
There were moments I wanted to turn around,
To leave my dreams buried beneath the ground.
But something inside me whispered, “Stay.”
Even when hope seemed far away.
It told me that storms do not last forever,
And broken moments can be pieced together.
So I learned to value the smallest light,
The quiet courage that survives the night.
I learned that progress can sometimes be slow,
And growing takes time before we know.
The road taught me things that books could not say:
That losing direction does not mean losing the way.
That some closed doors are not meant to be opened,
And some difficult chapters leave wisdom unspoken.
I met people who stayed, and people who left,
Some gave me courage, some taught me regret.
Each one carried a lesson, whether bitter or sweet,
And somehow their footsteps became part of my feet.
Now I walk differently than I did before.
I do not fear every unfamiliar door.
I know there will be hills, and valleys, and rain,
But I also know sunshine will visit again.
So if tomorrow finds me standing alone,
I will remember the strength I have grown.
I will keep moving, though the journey is long,
Because every weak step can become something strong.
And when I finally reach where I am meant to be,
I will look back at the person I used to be.
I will smile at the road, with its darkness and flame,
Because through every chapter, the road still knew my name.
