THE SLANG "LIFE NO BALANCE"

THE SLANG "LIFE NO BALANCE"

There are some expressions born not from grammar books, but from the streets, from tired laughter, from crowded buses, empty pockets, broken expectations, and stubborn survival. “Life no balance” is one of such expressions, it is not merely slang; it is philosophy hidden inside ordinary speech. In three simple words lies the frustration of millions who wake daily to a world that does not seem fair. To say “life no balance” is to confess that life does not distribute its gifts equally. One man sleeps under a leaking roof while another complains that his mansion is too small, one student burns candles through the night reading books, yet another succeeds through connections and privilege. A hardworking mother may still struggle to feed her children, while laziness sometimes wears gold watches and expensive perfume. In moments like these, society shrugs and says, “life no balance.” Yet the slang carries more than bitterness, it also contains humour. People laugh while saying it because laughter becomes medicine against disappointment. In many African societies, especially among the youth, pain often dresses itself in jokes so that the heart can carry it more easily. The phrase becomes a survival anthem, a poetic sigh uttered when expectations collide with harsh reality. But perhaps the deeper meaning of “life no balance” is the realization that existence itself is uneven. Joy and sorrow share the same table. A man may celebrate today and mourn tomorrow. The same rain that nourishes crops can destroy homes through flood. Human life moves like an unstable scale, forever tilting between abundance and lack, hope and despair, victory and failure. Still, hidden beneath the slang is resilience. People continue living despite the imbalance. The poor still dream. Lovers still promise forever in uncertain times. Students still study for a future they cannot clearly see. Humanity continues because hope quietly resists despair. Even when people say “life no balance,” they wake up the next morning and continue the journey.

In truth, perhaps life was never meant to be balanced. Nature itself is unequal: mountains rise while valleys sink; some seasons bloom while others wither. What matters may not be the balance of life, but the strength of the human spirit within it. The ability to smile in hardship, to love in uncertainty, and to keep walking even when the road seems unfair.

Thus, the slang “life no balance” is more than casual speech. It is poetry from the streets, philosophy from everyday people, and a mirror reflecting the uneven rhythm of human existence. Beneath its simplicity lies a profound truth: life may not always be fair, but the human heart continues to endure, endure the hardship and cruelty for even when it's seems to be unfair finding peace amidst it's unfairness and sticking to your situation while working to find a better place or make your situation to be more easier is far more better than looking for balance where you can't find one especially in the current state of the nation. The unfairness of the world should make us more serious not to give life any reason to be unfair to us. Be focused and endure for time will come when there will be balance.
