I used to think
I was running out of time.
Everyone seemed to be going somewhere—
building businesses,
learning skills,
making money,
becoming the person
they had always wanted to be.
And I was watching.
Wondering if I was behind.
Wondering what I should have achieved by now.
Wondering why someone else seemed to have figured it out
while I was still trying to figure out myself.
Maybe we are all rushing
because somewhere along the way
we were told that life is a race.
That we should become wealthy quickly.
Find our purpose early.
Learn the skill.
Get the job.
Build the life.
And if someone gets there before us,
we start questioning our own journey.
We compare.
Then we copy.
Then we become frustrated
because somehow
we are trying to live someone else's timeline
with our own life.
But maybe
I don't need to be there yet.
Maybe I need to learn.
Maybe I need to grow.
Maybe I need to become better
without constantly checking
who is ahead of me.
Because there will always be someone
who knows more than I do.
Someone who started earlier.
Someone who seems further ahead.
And there will always be another person
looking at me
and wishing they were where I am.
So maybe the answer
isn't to run faster.
Maybe it is to look at my own feet
and keep walking.
To learn the skill
even if I'm still a beginner.
To make mistakes
without turning them into proof
that I'm failing.
To grow quietly.
To take my time
without wasting it.
And perhaps, one day,
I'll look back and realize
that I wasn't actually behind.
I was becoming.
While I was busy asking,
“Why am I not there yet?”
Life was quietly asking me,
“But who are you becoming
while you're on your way there?”
