ARE YOU ACTUALLY HAPPY

Letters to My Friend šŸ¤

Day 25: Are You Actually Happy?

Dear Friend,

When was the last time you were genuinely happy?

Not because something good happened.

Not because someone complimented you.

Not because your plans finally worked out.

I mean...

Happy.

The kind that doesn't need a photograph to prove it. The kind you feel even when nobody is watching.

I've been wondering about that lately.

Because sometimes, we become very good at looking okay.

We laugh.

We go out.

We post.

We make plans.

We encourage other people.

And when someone asks how we're doing, we smile and say, "I'm good."

But somewhere between all that living, we forget to ask ourselves whether we're actually living.

Are you happy, dear friend, or have you simply become comfortable with being distracted?

There's a difference.

Sometimes, we keep ourselves so busy that we don't have to acknowledge what's happening inside us. We fill our schedules, scroll through our phones, surround ourselves with people, and keep chasing the next big thing.

Because perhaps, if we stay busy enough, we won't have to face the emptiness we feel when everything becomes quiet.

But what happens when the noise finally stops?

What happens when you get into bed at night, put your phone aside, and find yourself alone with your thoughts?

Are you at peace?

Or is there a sadness you cannot quite explain?

Solomon had wealth, influence, wisdom, and access to pleasure. He experienced things many people spend their entire lives pursuing.

Yet he wrote:

"Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity."

— Ecclesiastes 1:2 (KJV)

Perhaps one of the strangest things about life is discovering that you can have so much and still feel like something is missing.

You can achieve your goals and still feel empty. You can be surrounded by people and still feel lonely. You can receive the things you prayed for and discover that your heart needs something deeper.

Because the human heart was never designed to find its ultimate satisfaction in possessions, achievements, relationships, or applause.

It needs God.

Dear friend, I'm not saying that Christians should never feel sad or that every difficult emotion means something is wrong with their relationship with God.

Sometimes, you're simply tired. Sometimes, life hurts. Sometimes, you need rest, honest conversations, or someone who will listen without trying to fix everything.

And that's okay.

But please, don't become so committed to looking happy that you forget to care for the person you are when nobody is watching.

You don't have to pretend before God.

You can tell Him you're tired. You can admit that something hurts. You can ask Him to help you rediscover the joy you've been missing.

Perhaps you don't need another achievement right now.

Perhaps you need to slow down, return to the secret place, and learn to enjoy God's presence without turning every prayer into a list of requests.

Remember, dear friend, you can be grateful for your life and still admit that something hurts. Both things can be true.

So, take a moment today.

Put the noise aside.

Be honest with yourself and with God.

You don't have to manufacture happiness. You can bring your honest heart before the One who knows it completely.

And maybe, in that quiet place, you'll begin to discover that true joy isn't always found in getting everything you want.

Sometimes, it's found in knowing the One who holds your life, even when it doesn't look the way you imagined.

Reflection 🌿

If nobody could see your achievements, your relationships, or your social media, what would your heart say about how you're really doing?

And more importantly, have you made room for God in the places where you're struggling to find joy?

Take your time, dear friend. You deserve the honesty, and God can handle the truth. šŸ¤
