Happiness is free.
In a world where people often believe happiness comes from money, possessions, status, relationships, or success, the truth is that genuine happiness cannot be bought. Happiness is free.
You do not need a million naira to smile. You do not need a perfect life to have joy. You do not need everything to be going your way before you can appreciate the gift of today.
The Bible reminds us, “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24 (KJV).
Notice that Scripture says this is the day. Not tomorrow. Not when you get the job. Not when you become wealthy. Not when everything finally works out. Today.
Happiness begins with gratitude.
Sometimes, we become so focused on what we don't have that we forget to appreciate what we already possess. We complain about the food we want while someone else is praying for the food we have. We worry about the next opportunity while forgetting to thank God for the opportunities already given to us.
The Bible says, “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.” — Proverbs 17:22 (KJV).
Joy has value. A cheerful heart can strengthen us in difficult seasons. It doesn't mean we ignore our problems or pretend that life is always easy. It means we refuse to allow our circumstances to completely steal our gratitude.
Jesus also taught us not to make material possessions the foundation of our lives. “A man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.” — Luke 12:15 (KJV).
Money can buy a house, but it cannot buy peace.
Money can buy entertainment, but it cannot guarantee joy.
Money can buy comfort, but it cannot purchase contentment.
True joy comes from a deeper place.
The apostle Paul wrote, “I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” — Philippians 4:11 (KJV).
Paul's words are powerful because he understood that contentment is not dependent on circumstances. Happiness becomes more meaningful when it is rooted in God rather than in possessions or temporary situations.
So today, pause for a moment.
Look around you.
Thank God for life.
Thank Him for another morning.
Thank Him for family and friends.
Thank Him for the lessons from yesterday.
Thank Him for the strength to face today.
Thank Him even for the little things you sometimes overlook.
Happiness is free.
You don't have to wait until you have everything to enjoy something. You can choose gratitude today. You can choose kindness today. You can choose to smile today. You can choose to trust God today.
“Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.” — Philippians 4:4 (KJV).
Your joy does not have to wait for a better tomorrow.
Choose joy. Count your blessings. Trust God. Live today.
Because sometimes, the greatest blessings in life are the ones money could never buy.
So remember to rejoice today, it's called today for a reason, not tommorow but today.
