Fear is more than an emotion; when it is allowed to take root in the heart, it can become a torment. Fear can steal peace, weaken courage, disturb sleep, create anxiety, and make a person imagine the worst before anything has happened. But as believers, we are not called to live under the dominion of fear. God has given us His Word as an answer to every voice that seeks to intimidate our hearts.
The Bible says clearly in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Fear does not come from God. God gives power to stand, love to overcome, and a sound mind to think according to His truth.
Isaiah 41:10 declares: “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God.” What a powerful assurance! We do not overcome fear by pretending that problems do not exist. We overcome fear by remembering that God is greater than whatever stands before us.
When fear says, “You are alone,” God says, “I am with thee.”
When fear says, “You cannot make it,” God says, “I will strengthen thee.”
When fear says, “You will fall,” God says, “I will uphold thee.”
I remember when I was so held by fear, fear that wouldn't let me make great progress but God saved me, and He can save you too.
Psalm 23:4 says, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me.” Notice that David did not say there would be no valley. He said he would not fear because God was with him.
The presence of God silences the intimidation of fear.
Psalm 56:3-4 gives us a practical response: “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.”
Fear may knock at your door, but you do not have to invite it inside.
Deuteronomy 31:8 says, “And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.”
Also remember 1 John 4:18: “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear.” God's perfect love drives out torment because you know that you are not abandoned, forgotten, or helpless.
Today, reject every voice of fear that contradicts God's Word. Speak the Scriptures over your life. Pray when fear rises. Trust God when circumstances look uncertain. Remember His faithfulness when your feelings become unstable.
Fear is a torment, but God's presence is greater. Fear speaks, but God's Word speaks louder. Fear threatens, but faith stands.
Declare today:
I will not live in fear.
I will trust in God.
I am strengthened by His power.
I am surrounded by His presence.
I will not fear, because my God is with me.
Psalm 118:6: “The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?”
Let God's Word silence every voice of fear. Amen.
