CHAPTER TWO
I turned off the shower in the bathroom while replaying in my head everything that happened the previous day. Jane almost had me screwed up and if I’ve not yet received a letter from boss then just maybe I’ve been pardoned this time. Got dressed and as usual boarded the school bus; about to witness yet another day of learning. Something was off, I could feel it, something unusual but I couldn’t tell what. “Hey” a voice said, it was her. “Hi….ummm” I tried to recall the name. “It’s Jane. Janet Harrison, again” she reminded me.
“Yeah, yeah. It’s Jane” “ummm, about yesterday, listen everything that happened was a huge risk for you. You shouldn’t just stalk stranger’s or follow people you barely know around, it’s not safe” I told her.
“Yeah, I know” she replied then grabbed a chair and sat in the direction adjacent to me. “It’s just, I know this may sound strange but…” she hesitated and looked at me. “Go straight to the point” I said to her becoming impatient. “Okay, thing is I’m a transfer student meaning I’m new around here, and since I’ve been here I’ve kinda noticed you. I know I’m a tenth grade and you’re eleventh grade, and I’m your junior but whenever I think of you or see you, I feel the this rush in of emotions. This feeling of some kind that’s like longing for satisfaction. I like you and I know it, but I don’t want it and at the same time I want it, I mean I want you. So, that’s majorly it.” She ended. “Wow. That’s a lot. Sincerely, I do not know what I should do with that information. I mean, I applaud your courage and everything yesterday, but then again you like me and you’ve told me sooo, fine, I’ve heard, I know now. Guess you should take your leave” I said staring at her. “Well, I wasn’t expecting that. I’ll come clean, I want to have a relationship with you, I want to date you and be your girl. Is that okay?” she asked.
“First, if you coming clean you gonna have to forget everything that happened yesterday”
“What happened yesterday…?” she asked, interrupting me. “Secondly, I don’t do no dating or shit like that. You date me now, the next minute we broken up and you with some other guy over some minor issue. That’s how girls are. Thirdly we’re done, you can leave now.” I said, got up and left the class as it seemed we wont be having lessons anytime soon. She followed behind me. “What do you do other than chase around people that want no business with you?” I asked walking down the hall way heading towards the male toilet. “Hey, you shouldn’t let a lady stress and chase after you” she said dragging me back, holding my left hand. “Pfft, a lady! Where, I don’t see no one?” I feigned. “Look, I know you into bad things, I know you an orphan and even lost your foster parent’s but I can accept all that” she said looking pale. “Look here Jane, there’s a huge difference and gap between you and I. You a rich girl and I know low lives like me got no place with them girl’s like you. Then again, you’ve got your parent’s while I’ve got no one , I mean I’m even only in school by ‘luck’. There is a gap between us, now you keep to yourself and I’ll keep to mine because I don’t want no hell coming down on me. We never had this conversation okay” I said. Turning around some fellas passed giggling and pointing at us.
“Wait” she said and I stopped. Let’s drop this gap between you and I thing. I might be a rich white kid and all of that but I don’t really care about. I know I want you, I don’t care what my parent’s or anybody will say or demand I only want you” she said.
I looked at her “Don’t make me laugh” I said and walked into the toilet. She sighed, turned around and left.
