It was an ordinary Monday morning when Daniel found the notebook.
He was cleaning the old room behind his grandmother's house when he saw a small brown notebook under a wooden table. It was dusty and covered with cobwebs.
Daniel picked it up and opened it.
The first page was empty.
The second page was also empty.
But on the third page, he saw some writing.
“Tomorrow, it will rain at exactly 3:00 p.m.”
Daniel laughed.
“What kind of joke is this?” he said.
He closed the notebook and put it in his school bag.
The next day, Daniel almost forgot about it. But at about 3:00 p.m., dark clouds suddenly covered the sky.
Then the rain started.
Daniel stood by the classroom window in surprise.
He quickly brought out the notebook.
The words were still there.
“How did it know?” he asked himself.
That night, Daniel opened the notebook again.
A new message had appeared.
“Tomorrow, your teacher will lose his keys.”
Daniel was shocked.
The next morning, he watched his teacher carefully. During break time, the teacher suddenly began checking his pockets.
“My keys are missing,” he said.
The whole class started looking for them.
A few minutes later, Daniel found the keys under a chair.
He could not believe what he was seeing.
The notebook had predicted it again.
From that day, Daniel became very interested in the strange notebook. Every night, he checked it.
Some messages were small.
“You will meet an old friend tomorrow.”
“Someone will give you a gift.”
“A football will break a window.”
And somehow, they all happened.
Daniel began telling his best friend, Samuel, about the notebook.
Samuel did not believe him at first.
“You are making this up,” Samuel said.
Daniel gave him the notebook.
“Write something on the next page,” he said.
Samuel thought for a moment and wrote:
“Tomorrow, Daniel will find a red ball.”
The next day, Daniel went to school.
During lunch, a red ball rolled across the field and stopped near his feet.
Samuel stared at him.
Neither of them spoke.
Now they both wanted to know where the notebook came from.
They asked Daniel's grandmother about it.
She became quiet when she saw the notebook.
“I have not seen this for many years,” she said.
She explained that the notebook once belonged to Daniel's grandfather when he was young.
“But how can it predict the future?” Daniel asked.
His grandmother shook her head.
“I don't know,” she replied. “Your grandfather used to say that some things are better left as mysteries.”
That night, Daniel opened the notebook one more time.
This time, there was a message that made his heart beat faster.
“Tomorrow, Daniel will discover the truth about this notebook.”
Daniel could not sleep.
The next morning, he returned to the old room. He searched everywhere until he found a small wooden box hidden behind a shelf.
Inside the box was an old photograph of his grandfather holding the same notebook.
Under the photograph was a short note.
It said that his grandfather had found the notebook many years ago and had never discovered who wrote the mysterious messages.
Daniel looked at the notebook again.
A new page was slowly filling with words.
He watched in silence.
Then he smiled.
Some mysteries do not need quick answers.
Some mysteries are meant to make us curious.
Daniel closed the notebook and placed it safely in the wooden box.
But before he walked away, he looked back at it.
One question remained in his mind:
What will it predict next?
