With a smile on my lips at heartbreak time,
When I felt the depth of the pain, I laughed,
I told the world that I'm okay,
Then I cried all alone before I lay down to sleep.
Swept away storms behind my eyes,
But never let them fall,
I have made a wall around my heart,
So no one knew it all.
The tears that I never let fall
Were words I cannot say,
They carried my fears with them,
And the hurt I carried concealed.
When I was weak, I was strengthened,
When I was to go, I walked,
I motivated people around me
While losing strength each day.
No one witnessed the quiet wars,
They did not listen to my heart's plea,
They just didn't see the force that I carried,
As protective as armor under the sky.
I would sometimes wish somebody:
Would look beyond my smile,
Tell me if I was really well,
And stay with me awhile.
But every tear that I ever did shed
Led my heart to know:
Even broken souls can heal,
Eventually, storms come to an end.
No longer do I fear my tears now;
I let them freely flow.
For healing starts as soon as you
We release the pain that we know.
I didn't show those tears.
Neither was there any time to show that I was weak,
They were proof that I kept on going.
Life got too tough.
