Taking Doubt Out of the Equation
Doubt represents a harmful element in your existence and is often intertwined with fear. Indeed, fear may lead to doubt, while doubt can instigate fear. They can intensify one another, or exist simultaneously, contributing to a challenging life experience.
Moreover, doubt is known as the Dream Destroyer. It embodies Anti-Hope. It compels you to relinquish your aspirations before fully determining if they are achievable. You simply conclude that they are not possible and walk away from them.
Doubt can cause you to hold back when you would prefer to push ahead, and it can lead you to question your intuition.
Fundamentally, doubts are merely another variation of limiting beliefs. If you question your capability to accomplish something, you will refrain from doing it. You may not even make an attempt. If you are skeptical about the existence of opportunities, you will settle for what you currently possess. If you are doubtful about people's goodwill, you will resist any assistance they offer.
To extend your boundaries, you must eliminate doubt from the equation entirely. This can be accomplished by adopting its opposite: BELIEF. It is not as challenging as it appears.
What you need to do is choose to BELIEVE rather than DOUBT. It truly is that straightforward! This decision should be made repeatedly, not just on one occasion. Each time you sense doubt surfacing, replace it with strong belief.
• "I doubt I can do this effectively." transforms into, "I KNOW I can do this effectively."
• "I doubt it will turn out right." becomes, "I’m going to make SURE this turns out right."
• "I doubt I have what it takes to succeed." gets rephrased as, "I know I can develop any quality I need to succeed."
Initially, you may feel as though you are deceiving yourself. You might not truly believe what you’re asserting, but if you keep choosing to have faith in those affirmations, you will eventually come to believe them. However, it must start with a conscious decision.
Doubt can be cunning, and it often disguises itself as disinterest, resentment, distrust, or reluctance. Occasionally, it’s necessary to play the role of investigator to uncover what is genuinely happening within you. With a bit of examination and a lot of unfiltered honesty, you will gain better clarity. If you find it challenging to identify a connection, consider answering these prompts:
• "I am disinterested in __________ because I doubt that _________."
• "I feel bitter about ___________ because I doubt that __________."
• "I’m distrustful of __________ because I doubt that __________."
• "I’m resistant to ___________ because I doubt that __________."
If strong belief does not eradicate your doubts, you can also break them down and question their fundamental elements, in the same way you addressed your fears. You may find that your doubts are rooted in past disappointments or painful experiences.
Comments made by others throughout your life can be completely dismissed if you choose to do so. Analyzing any uncertainties or fears is a beneficial approach since the individual elements that contribute to the whole often seem less intimidating than the whole itself.
• Analyzing your uncertainties can be as straightforward as completing this phrase as completely as you can: “I am uncertain about _______ because ________.” Once you identify the core reasons, it becomes possible to tackle them individually by changing incorrect beliefs, confronting fears, and broadening restrictive beliefs.
If none of this works and you cannot remove or analyze your doubts, the final strategy is to simply DISREGARD THEM. Proceed with action despite the possibility of it feeling pointless. Commit to giving your utmost effort, regardless of the circumstances. Even if it feels like a pointless endeavor, even when success seems impossible, and even when things get tough, you will still make the effort. Mustering this requires bravery and resolve; do not deceive yourself about that. However, you will frequently find the outcomes surprising, and you may be starting to realize that testing your boundaries is primarily about reviewing your habitual thoughts and beliefs, questioning your perceptions, and overcoming any perceived barriers.
Keep in mind that limitations hold no significance without the strength you grant them. If you choose not to give them power, they remain mere random, harmless thoughts. They may appear daunting at first glance, but when you break them down and scrutinize them closely, you will understand just how trivial they truly are in the broader context.
Nevertheless, until you reach a certain level in this process, it is advisable to proceed with caution. Just as overexerting yourself physically can lead to injury, overstraining mentally or emotionally can result in disappointment and frustration.
Taking one step at a time will help you achieve your goals, and it will likely lead to a more enjoyable path. Soon enough, your progress will naturally begin to build, but for now, pace yourself. Aim to tackle one task daily, even if it is a minor one.
Confront one fear, analyze one doubt, question one belief, and repeat this the next day. As you start feeling more robust, you can handle more than one at a time, but begin with manageable tasks.
Then, refrain from pausing after each action you take. Do not wait to see if you achieve any “results” from your efforts; simply continue moving forward at a gradual and consistent pace. You will be amazed at how swiftly the process picks up momentum and yields tangible results. However, if you linger, expecting results, they may come more slowly. Keep in mind, “A watched pot never boils.”
