With modernity, comes a bright face,
Taking new dreams to each place.
Machines come to life, cities expand,
And technology advances march on.
Mobile phones now span the land,
Knowledge and friendship is around the corner.
Internet opens up a world so vast,
At our fingertips, a wealth of information.
Things move faster, planes cross the sky,
While satellites travel silently high.
Robots do the jobs that had to be done by people before,
To make life quick, simple, and pleasant.
Modernity provides us comfort and choice,
It amplifies the voice of far away people.
Education goes to the door of the poorest,
But medicine saves lives more so than ever before.
But the downside of progress is,
Vacant Havel would be right to remind us that some values can be lost.
We look at screens and don't speak to each other,
We drive and don't walk.
Under concrete and steel, nature suffers,
Sometimes, people's hearts forget to feel.
As new ways emerge, traditions pass away,
Yet there's loneliness despite the people around.
Still, modernity can light our way,
God is calling us to be wise each day.
Let progress benefit both heart and land,
Knowledge in balance with loving hand.
The real progress we need to make requires us to agree:
Technology and humanity are needed in the future.
