Good evening everyone,
We live in a world where people only celebrate you when you have become something. Nobody posts your nothing days. Nobody claps for you when you are in your nothing season. But I came to tell you today that your nothing season is not your end. It is your beginning.
What does nothing look like? Nothing looks like having an idea but no money. Nothing looks like trekking to learn a skill while others drive. Nothing looks like selling with your WhatsApp status and nobody is buying. Nothing looks like your family asking you, "When will you make it?" Nothing looks like sleeping in a room where you pack your shop inside the same room. That is nothing. And if you are in that nothing season now, I understand you.
But here is what they don't tell you about nothing.
Number One: Nothing is a raw material.
Everything God created was created from nothing. The world was made from nothing. So nothing is not empty. Nothing is full of possibilities. If you have nothing, you have space for everything. The person who has something is already full, but the person who has nothing is open to build anything. Your empty hand is not a shame. It is an opportunity to build something that is truly yours. Many people who started with something lost it because they didn't know how to manage it. But if you start from nothing, you will learn how to create, how to keep, and how to multiply.
Number Two: Nobody becomes something without first being nothing.
Check all the great people you admire. Aliko Dangote started small. That big fashion designer started with one sewing machine. That big shoe seller in Main Market started with 3 pairs in a tray. That popular content creator started with zero views. There is no elevator from nothing to something. There is a process. You have to walk the path. You have to carry your nothing with pride and work it into something.
The mistake we make is we compare our nothing season to someone else's something season. You see someone on Instagram with a big shop and you say "God, when?" But you didn't see when that person was in their nothing season, crying at night, borrowing money, being rejected.
Number Three: What turns nothing to something?
It is not prayer alone. It is not complaining. It is WORK + CONSISTENCY + TIME.
From nothing to something, you need work. You need to be ready to do the dirty work. You need to learn, you need to serve, you need to show up even when no one is clapping.
From nothing to something, you need consistency. That small business you started with 10k, keep watering it. Post every day. Talk to one more customer every day. Save small. Learn small.
From nothing to something, you need time. You will not become something overnight. A mango tree does not grow in one night. But give it time, and it will feed a village.
Let me tell you my own story. I started with nothing. People laughed. Some said, "Is this the business?" But I refused to be ashamed of my nothing. I kept going. Today, my nothing is becoming something. And tomorrow, my something will become more than something.
So to you who is listening to me today, I want to tell you: Don't curse your nothing. Use your nothing. Start with that small phone. Start with that small idea. Start in that small room.
Because one day, when you become something, your story will be: I didn't start from something. I started from nothing. And I built something.
And that story will inspire the world.
