You Were My Peace, Then Became My Storm
poem

You Were My Peace, Then Became My Storm

You were my peace

When “the world” became noisy,

A soft glow in the night,

Under each cloud there is a shelter.

You were the smile

That calmed my pain,

The warmest sunshine

Due to seasons of rain.

I believed your words,I have put my trust in your words,

I knew in my heart that,

Never imagining

There would be one day when we'd fall apart.

Your presence comforted,

Your tone, your voice felt like home,

With you beside me,

I never felt alone.

But somewhere between

The laughter and tears,

Something quietly changed,

And love became fears.

Once I was held by the hands,

Started to fire me,

The eyes that loved me

No longer appeared to shine.

You became the silence as a child,As a child you were the silence,

That was in response to my screams,

The unexpected thunder

It was that blackened my sky.

You were my peace,

Then was my storm,

The place where I found myself a refuge.

Became where I felt torn.

Though I will not hate you

In memory of the things we've done together,

Some lessons arrive

By love, which slowly grows dim.

You educated me in the ways of the world, at times

Hearts are like the weather,

Not all people we love

Is intended to be kept forever.

So I'll walk the storm,

Although the journey is a long one,

And restore my peace,

Where I used to be strong.

You once were my peace,

And though you became my storm,

I'll be back on my feet,

And in my heart be warm.
