How do you know it's love when you've never experienced it before?
They say you'll know when you know,
as though the heart recognizes something
the mind has never learned.
Can one keep loving someone forever?
I keep asking myself if it's possible,
if feelings can remain unchanged
while seasons pass and people grow,
or if love simply learns new shapes with time.
How can love be so difficult and so easy altogether?
How can it be so painful and sweet at once?
How can it leave someone smiling one moment
and questioning everything the next?
And yet I wonder if it's worth it,
to be hurting just to be together,
to carry another person's joys and sorrows
as though they were your own.
"Like a rose blooming between my palms, its petals soft yet its thorns unkind."
Beautiful enough to make me hold on,
sharp enough to make me hesitate.
They say it's better to go through it together than alone,
to face the storms side by side.
Yet I say it's better not to even start it,
for everyone's peace of mind.
I say that as if I don't know
that love has no time,
no permission to ask,
and no patience for those who try to avoid it.
It simply arrives, and remains.
