Save Me
poem

Save Me

Save me from the silence that follows every cry,

From the questions left unanswered underneath the sky.

Save me from the shadows that gather when I'm weak,

From all the hidden words I am too afraid to speak.

Save me from the nights when sleep refuses to arrive,

When every thought reminds me how hard it is to survive.

Save me from the memories that refuse to disappear,

From the voices in my mind that become louder than my fear.

I smile when people ask me if everything is fine,

I say that I am stronger, that I only need some time.

But beneath the smile, there is a heart that feels so tired,

A soul that once was hopeful, but somehow lost its fire.

Save me from pretending that I never need a hand,

From acting like I understand what I can barely stand.

I have carried every burden as if I were made of stone,

But even stone can crack when it is left alone.

I don't need someone to promise that the world will never hurt,

Or tell me that my sorrow is something I deserve.

I only need a presence that will stay when things get hard,

A voice that says, “I'm here,” when life has left me scarred.

Save me from believing that my failures make me small,

From thinking every broken dream means I have lost it all.

Remind me that a stumble is not the end of every road,

And that I don't have to carry every heavy load.

If you see me falling, please don't simply turn away,

You don't have to fix my life or make the darkness fade.

Just sit beside me quietly until the storm is through,

Sometimes being there is all that someone needs from you.

Save me from the fear that I will always be alone,

From feeling like a stranger in a world that feels unknown.

Show me that there are hearts that still know how to care,

And that even broken people can find somebody there.

I have searched for answers in the darkness of the night,

I have begged the morning sky to send a little light.

I have walked through endless places looking for a sign,

Something to remind me that this life can still be mine.

And maybe being saved is not a miracle at all,

Maybe it is simply having someone when you fall.

Maybe it is courage growing quietly inside,

A tiny voice that tells you there is nowhere left to hide.

Maybe I can save myself one breath at a time,

By choosing to keep walking when the road becomes a climb.

Maybe hope is waiting underneath the fear I feel,

A little piece of me that still remembers how to heal.

So save me, not by taking every pain away,

But by reminding me that I can face another day.

Save me with your kindness, with your patience, with your light,

And help me find the courage to keep walking through the night.

If tomorrow finds me standing, let me know I made it through,

If my heart begins to tremble, let me know what I can do.

And when I finally discover that the darkness has an end,

I'll understand that sometimes being saved means finding a friend.

So here I am, still breathing, though the journey has been long,

Still searching for the reason I should carry myself on.

My voice may sound uncertain, but my heart still has a flame,

A fragile little hope that whispers softly through my pain.

Save me from forgetting that I am more than what I've lost,

More than all my failures and the battles that they cost.

Save me from surrender when the road becomes unclear,

And teach me that tomorrow does not belong to fear.

For if I can keep moving, even slowly, even scared,

If I can believe that somewhere there is someone who cares,

Then perhaps I was never truly lost beneath the gray.

Perhaps I only needed someone to say,

“Stay.

You are not alone.

There is still another day.”
