HE THAT KEEPETH THEE
“He that keepeth thee will not slumber” (Psalm 121:3). These words remind us that God is our faithful keeper, protector, and helper. In a world filled with dangers, uncertainties, and challenges, it is comforting to know that we have a God who watches over us continually. He never sleeps, never becomes tired, and never forgets His children.
WHO IS HE THAT KEEPETH THEE?
Psalm 121:5 declares, “The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.” The One who keeps us is God Himself, the Creator of heaven and earth (Psalm 121:2). He is not merely someone who offers advice from a distance; He is our present help, our shield, and our refuge.
God kept Noah and his family during the flood (Genesis 7:1). He preserved the Israelites as they journeyed through the wilderness (Deuteronomy 8:4). He also protected Daniel in the lions’ den (Daniel 6:22). These examples show that God has the power to preserve His people even in difficult circumstances.
HE NEVER SLEEPS NOR SLUMBERS
Psalm 121:3–4 tells us that the God of Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps. Human beings become tired and need rest, but God does not. While we sleep, He remains God. When we are unaware of danger, He is still able to watch over us.
This truth should give us peace in times of fear and uncertainty. We may not know what tomorrow holds, but we can trust the One who holds tomorrow. Proverbs 3:24 teaches that when we lie down, our sleep can be sweet. Therefore, we should learn to commit our lives, families, journeys, and daily activities into God's hands through prayer.
HE KEEPS US FROM EVIL
Psalm 121:7 says, “The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.”
God's keeping power extends beyond physical protection. He also desires to preserve our souls from sin and spiritual destruction. Through His Word, the Holy Spirit, and His grace, He guides us in the way of righteousness.
However, trusting God does not mean that believers will never experience difficulties. Jesus told His disciples that they would face tribulation in the world (John 16:33). Yet, He also encouraged them to be of good cheer because He had overcome the world. Even when we pass through trials, God's presence can strengthen and sustain us.
HE KEEPS OUR GOING OUT AND COMING IN
Psalm 121:8 declares, “The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.”
This promise reminds us that God's care is not limited to a particular place or moment. He watches over us in our homes, workplaces, schools, churches, and journeys. His faithfulness is not seasonal; it continues throughout our lives.
Nevertheless, we must walk in obedience, exercise wisdom, and avoid deliberately placing ourselves in danger. Faith in God should produce confidence, not carelessness.
In conclusion, He that keepeth thee is the Almighty God, whose love and faithfulness never fail. He watches over His children day and night, strengthens them in trouble, and guides them through life's uncertainties. Therefore, do not allow fear to control your heart. Trust God, remain obedient to His Word, and continue in prayer. Remember that your security ultimately rests in the Lord, not in human strength or wisdom.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for being my keeper. Watch over my life, preserve my soul from evil, guide my steps, and grant me peace in every situation. Help me to trust You always, in Jesus' name. Amen!
STAY BLESSED!!!
