FAITH: TRUSTING GOD BEYOND WHAT YOU SEE
Faith is one of the most powerful foundations of the Christian life. It is the confidence that God is who He says He is and that He will fulfil His promises, even when our circumstances seem to suggest otherwise. Faith enables us to trust God's Word, stand firm in difficult times, and believe in His power when we cannot see the way forward.
Hebrews 11:1 (KJV) declares, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” This means that faith gives us confidence in God's promises even before we see their physical manifestation. Faith does not depend on what our eyes can see but on the unchanging character of God.
1. FAITH BEGINS WITH GOD'S WORD
True faith is rooted in the Word of God. Our emotions may change, and circumstances may fluctuate, but God's Word remains steadfast. The more we study His Word, the more our faith grows.
Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
If we desire stronger faith, we must develop a consistent relationship with God's Word through reading, meditation, prayer, and obedience. Faith grows when we continually remind ourselves of what God has spoken rather than allowing fear to control our hearts.
2. FAITH REQUIRES TRUST AND OBEDIENCE
Faith is more than merely believing that God exists; it involves trusting Him enough to follow His instructions. Abraham demonstrated this kind of faith when God called him to leave his homeland for a place he had not yet seen.
Hebrews 11:8 explains that Abraham obeyed God by faith, even though he did not know where he was going.
Sometimes, God may lead us along unfamiliar paths. We may not understand every step, but faith teaches us to trust His wisdom and obey His direction. When we surrender our plans to Him, we allow His purpose to prevail in our lives.
3. FAITH STANDS FIRM IN DIFFICULT TIMES
Faith does not mean that Christians will never face challenges. Rather, it means that challenges do not have to destroy our confidence in God. Even in seasons of uncertainty, we can trust that He remains faithful.
In Mark 11:22, Jesus said, “Have faith in God.”
These words remind us to place our confidence in God rather than in our circumstances. When the storms of life arise, faith helps us remain prayerful, hopeful, and steadfast. We may not understand what God is doing, but we can trust His character and promises.
4. FAITH MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY ACTION
Genuine faith produces visible evidence through our choices and conduct. James 2:17 teaches that faith without works is dead.
Our faith should be demonstrated through love, forgiveness, integrity, generosity, service, and obedience to God's Word. We cannot claim to trust God while deliberately refusing to follow His instructions.
CONCLUSION
Beloved, faith is not the absence of uncertainty; it is the decision to trust God despite uncertainty. It is holding on to His promises when answers seem delayed and remaining faithful when life becomes difficult.
Let us walk by faith and not by sight, as stated in 2 Corinthians 5:7. May our faith grow stronger daily, our hearts remain steadfast in God's promises, and our lives become testimonies of His goodness.
Remember: When you cannot trace God's hand, you can still trust His heart. Keep believing, keep praying, and keep walking with Him. God is faithful! Because without faith it is impossible to please Him HEBREWS 11:6
