The Echoes of my heart.

*The Echoes of My Heart*

Such pain roaming in my heart,

Ready to flow through any path,

But it's being tamed down

By a raging force from within.

Sometimes I wonder why I have to speak,

Cause even when I do, no word is heard.

My words like crops falling on hard ground,

Not even a flower would suffice.

I carry oceans behind my eyes,

Yet the world sees only quiet skies.

The weight I hold goes unnoticed,

While I smile just to keep the peace.

They say you're too reserved,

Finally, I get to speak,

Words start pouring out,

With any slight chance they get.

Misunderstanding sets in,

Not even given a chance to explain.

No one cares to lend an ear,

Talk more of hearing what I'm here to share.

They cut me off before I begin,

Label me loud when I finally win.

My truth gets lost in hurried air,

And I’m left standing, lonely there.

Which makes me hide in my shell,

Where I find comfort to heal,

But I'm still affected

By being isolated.

In that silence I build my walls,

Hoping someone hears when my heart calls.

The echo answers back to me,

A whisper saying “you’re not free.”

Should I ignore the words of my heart

And try not to act,

Or voice my opinion

And yet still be overlooked?
