MERCY ME
Mercy me, O God, For I am standing before You, Not because I am worthy, But because Your mercy has kept me.
Mercy me, O God, For there are days when my strength fails, When my prayers become whispers, And my tears speak louder than my words. There are moments when I know what is right, Yet find myself struggling to do it. Moments when my heart desires Your presence, But my flesh fights to keep me away.
Who am I without Your grace? What is my name without Your breath? Where would I be if You had counted every wrong, If You had measured my life by my mistakes, And judged me according to my failures?
Here I am, Lord, Not with a perfect record, Not with a flawless past, Not with a heart that has never wandered, But with a soul that still needs You.
Have mercy on me, O God, According to Your unfailing love; According to Your great compassion, Blot out my transgressions. (Psalm 51:1)
Mercy me when pride makes me forget That every gift I carry came from You. Mercy me when applause becomes sweeter Than the quiet approval of Your presence. Mercy me when I become so busy working for You That I forget to sit at Your feet.
Mercy me when my lips sing Your praises, But my heart struggles to obey Your voice. Mercy me when I seek Your hand And forget to seek Your face. Mercy me when I want the crown But resist the process that prepares me for it.
Let Your mercy find me in the secret place, In the battles nobody knows about, In the questions I am afraid to ask, And in the weaknesses I struggle to surrender.
Let mercy rewrite the chapters That shame has tried to make permanent. Let mercy remind me that my past Does not have the final authority over my future. Let mercy teach me to rise again, Not in the confidence of my own strength, But in the sufficiency of Your grace.
And if Your mercies are new every morning, Then there is hope for me today. Hope to return. Hope to repent. Hope to be restored. Hope to become all You have called me to be.
Mercy me, Lord, Until my life becomes a testimony of Your goodness. Mercy me, Lord, Until the wounds of yesterday become wisdom for tomorrow. Mercy me, Lord, Until I no longer use grace as an excuse to remain the same, But as the strength to become transformed.
So, when my voice grows weak, hear my heart. When my knees grow weary, strengthen my faith. When condemnation reminds me of who I was, Remind me of what Jesus has done.
And when I stand before You at the end of my journey, May my life tell the story of a God who forgives, A Saviour who redeems, And a Father whose love never fails.
Until then, Lord, Keep me beneath the shadow of Your wings. Keep me humble in Your presence. Keep me hungry for Your Word. Keep me faithful to Your calling.
Above all, when I fall short of Your glory, When my humanity reminds me of my need for You, When I have no eloquence left to pray, Let this simple cry rise from the depths of my soul:
