They don't teach you, in the books, how heavy chalk can feel,
how a single lesson plan can carry someone's hope,
how a classroom full of faces, restless, young, and real,
can make you learn patience faster than you'll ever learn to cope.
You are not just someone teaching letters, numbers, facts,
you are planting seeds in soil you may never see bloom,
you are shaping how they'll navigate their future's complex acts,
you are often the only steady light in someone's room.
You remember every name, though some forget your own,
you carry report cards home, carry worries in your chest,
you give explanations twice, three times, patient and full-grown,
you give your evenings, weekends, to make sure they're at their best.
You are the one who noticed when a child stopped eating lunch,
the one who saw the bruises underneath the quiet smile,
the one who gave a listening ear, a gentle, steady touch,
the one who stayed a little later, just to walk the extra mile.
Nobody claps when you stay up grading through the night,
nobody sees the lesson plans rewritten five times through,
nobody measures all the ways you've changed a student's sight,
but somewhere, someone's future holds a fingerprint of you.
You may not see the harvest of the seeds you plant today,
the doctor who remembers you, the artist, the CEO,
but somewhere down the timeline, in some unexpected way,
a piece of who they've become is a piece that you helped grow.
So thank you for the patience, for the passion, for the grace,
for choosing, every single day, to pour instead of take,
for being the quiet architect that shaped a brighter place,
one lesson, one mind, one heart, one small but mighty stake.
Happy teacher's day to all teachers out there.... Keep pushing, you're strong and appreciated ❤️
