The woman is the center of love and is a sentimental being. She showers love and affection on her family. Her life is based on love and affection. She wants to be loved; the more she is loved, the more content she will be. Women are self-sacrificing. If she comes to know that she is not beloved by anyone, she may consider herself defeated and useless, and will always be gloomy and dejected. Therefore, it can be claimed that the greatest secret of caring for a wife is showing love and affection.
Respected gentleman! Your spouse enjoyed the untainted love of her parents earlier, but since she has signed the matrimonial contract, she has renounced others and signed the bond of partnership with you. She has come to your house with the hope that you alone will love her to the degree of the love given by her family or even more. She expects your love and affection to be deeper and more durable than her parents' love because she, relying upon your love, has submitted her whole life and existence to you.
The greatest secret and the best solution to matrimonial problems is to express love. If you want to win the heart of your wife, if you want to strengthen the matrimonial bonds, if you want to make her fond of yourself, if you want her to be faithful to you throughout her life, then the best way is to express love for your spouse to the greatest extent you can.
If you deprive your wife of kindness, then she would lose interest in her house, children, and, above all, in you. Your house would always be in a messy condition. She would not be prepared to make efforts for a person who does not love her.
A house in which there is no affection resembles a burning hell, even though it may be very tidy and full of luxurious goods.
If a wife feels unwanted, she may try to win the hearts of others for compensation. She may become so fed up with her husband and home that she may prefer separation to a cold and dull life, and may ask for a divorce.
The responsibility for all these events and incidents lies on the man, who could not take good care of his wife. Certainly, most divorces take place due to this lack of love. Family love and affection are of more value than other things; therefore, Almighty God has mentioned it in the Qur'an as one of the signs of His power and great favour.
Your attention is drawn to the following statistics. The psychological requirement of affection, the carelessness of husbands with regard to their wives' wishes, and the overlooking of the importance of the mental status of women have been responsible for many divorce cases.
Family love and friendship are more precious than anything else, and that is why Allah has regarded them as one of the signs of His power and a great blessing with which mankind has been endowed. The Holy Qur'an says: "And one of His signs is that He created mates for you from yourselves that you may find rest in them, and He put between you love and compassion. Most surely there are signs in this for a people who reflect." (Qur'an 30:21)
The Prophet (SAW) of Allah stated: "The more one becomes faithful, the more one expresses kindness to his spouse."
One of the characteristics of the Prophets of Allah is that they were all kind towards their wives.
