Letters to My Friend π€
Day 19: When You Don't Understand
Dear Friend,
There are seasons God doesn't explain.
You pray.
You search.
You replay the events in your mind, looking for a reason.
Why did this happen?
Why did that door close?
Why didn't God stop it?
Why is this taking so long?
And sometimes, there is no immediate answer.
Perhaps that's one of the hardest parts of faith trusting a God whose plans you cannot always understand.
We often want God to show us the whole map.
We want to know where we're going, why we're going there, and what will happen along the way.
But sometimes, He only gives us enough light for the next step.
βTrust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.β
β Proverbs 3:5 (KJV)
Notice the instruction:
Don't lean on your understanding.
Not because understanding is bad, but because it is limited.
You see today.
God sees the beginning, the middle, and the end.
You see the closed door.
He sees what lies beyond it.
You see the delay.
He sees what He is preparing in the waiting.
You see the unanswered question.
He sees the whole story.
And maybe, dear friend, you don't need an explanation tonight.
Maybe you need trust.
That doesn't mean you stop asking questions. It doesn't mean you pretend you aren't hurt. It doesn't mean you force yourself to understand something that genuinely doesn't make sense.
You can have questions and still have faith.
You can be confused and still believe.
You can cry and still worship.
You can say, βLord, I don't understand this,β and still place your hand in His.
Because faith isn't always saying,
βI understand what God is doing.β
Sometimes faith is simply whispering,
βI don't understand, Lord... but I still trust You.β
And maybe that's where you are right now.
Not with all the answers.
Not with everything figured out.
Just with enough faith to take the next step.
So, dear friend, if God hasn't explained everything yet, don't assume He has abandoned you.
Some things may only make sense when you look back.
For now, keep walking.
Keep praying.
Keep trusting.
The God who sees what you cannot see is still God.
And perhaps, for today, that is enough.
Reflection πΏ
What is one thing you don't understand right now that you need to place back into God's hands?
A Little Prayer π€
Lord, there are things I don't understand. There are questions I wish You would answer and situations I wish You would explain. Help me not to confuse Your silence with Your absence. Teach me to trust You even when I cannot see the whole picture. Give me grace for today and faith for the next step. I don't understand everything, Lord, but I choose to trust You.
Maybe I don't have every answer yet, but I can still rest in the One who does.
Teach me to trust and always depend on you at all times.
Amen
