SOMETIMES STARTING OVER IS BETTER THAN STAYING COMFORTABLE

Sometimes Starting Over Is Better Than Staying Comfortable

Sometimes, the hardest thing to do is not leaving. It is admitting that you have outgrown the life you are currently living.

We get so used to things that are familiar that we start confusing comfort with happiness.

You know the routine. You know the people around you. You know what tomorrow will probably look like. Nothing surprises you anymore.

And because everything feels familiar, you tell yourself, “At least I know what I have.”

But what if what you have is the very thing stopping you from becoming who you are supposed to be?

Starting over is scary.

Nobody talks enough about that part.

When you start over, you may have to become a beginner again. You may have to make new friends, learn new skills, find another job, leave a relationship, move somewhere new or rebuild something you thought would last forever.

And sometimes, you will look at your life and wonder if you made the wrong decision.

But there is a difference between being afraid because something is wrong and being afraid because something is new.

New things are uncomfortable.

That doesn't automatically mean they are bad.

Sometimes you stay in a relationship because you are afraid you will never find love again.

You stay in a job because you are afraid you won't find another one.

You stay around people who constantly make you feel small because you are afraid of being alone.

You stay in the same situation for years because at least it is familiar.

But familiarity is not always safety.

Sometimes it is simply a cage you have become comfortable living in.

Think about how many times you have said, “I wish I had started earlier.”

Maybe you wanted to learn something new.

Maybe you wanted to start a business.

Maybe you wanted to leave a relationship.

Maybe you wanted to move somewhere else or finally chase something you have always dreamed about.

And you kept waiting for the perfect time.

The truth is, the perfect time may never come.

There will always be something to worry about.

There will always be bills to pay, people who won't understand you, people who will tell you that you are making a mistake and moments when you will doubt yourself.

But imagine staying exactly where you are for another five years simply because you were afraid to begin again.

That thought can be even more frightening.

Starting over does not mean you failed.

Sometimes it means you finally had enough courage to admit that something wasn't working anymore.

You are allowed to change your mind.

You are allowed to choose a different career.

You are allowed to walk away from people who no longer bring peace into your life.

You are allowed to start from zero.

And most importantly, you are allowed to become a completely different version of yourself.

Don't let the fear of starting over convince you to remain somewhere your heart has already left.

Yes, starting again may be difficult.

You may cry.

You may struggle.

You may have days when you question everything.

But one day, you might look back and realize that the decision you were most afraid to make was the decision that changed your life.

Sometimes, starting over isn't the end of your story.

Sometimes, it is the beginning you were waiting for.
