Cleanliness Is Next To Godliness

The Bible principle that might assist in running a home is found in 2 Corinthians 7:1. We read there: Let us purify ourselves of every stain on body and mind. Jehovah, who requests "worship that is clean and undefiled," accepts those who follow these inspired words. James 1:27. Additionally, their family gets advantages.

For instance, the Bible guarantees us that a time will come when illness and disease will cease to exist. At that time, "no resident will say: I am sick. (Revelation 21:4, 5; Isaiah 33:24) Until then, though, every family must deal with sickness occasionally. Timothy and Paul both fell ill. (Galatians 4:13; 1 Timothy 5:23). However, medical professionals contend that a lot of illnesses are treatable. In order to prevent some treatable diseases, smart households avoid both physical and spiritual uncleanliness. Let's think about how. Contrast Proverbs 22:3.

Moral cleanness is a part of spirit cleanness. The Bible, as everyone knows, sets high moral standards and condemns any sexual relations outside of marriage. Neither fornicators, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, will inherit God's kingdom. (1 Corinthians 6:9, 10) It's crucial for Christians in today's morally corrupt world to adhere to these strict standards. Additionally, it aids in shielding the family from sexually transmitted ailments like chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and AIDS. Proverbs 7:10-23.

Safeguarding the family from illnesses is greatly aided by purifying oneself of all fleshly contamination. A lack of physical cleanliness causes a number of illnesses. Smoking is a prime illustration. In addition to making people sick, smoking pollutes the air, the clothes, and the lungs. Many people perish annually as a result of smoking tobacco. Consider this: if everyone had avoided that "defilement of the flesh," millions of individuals would not have suffered illness and died prematurely each year.

Let's look at another illustration. God gave his Law to the nation of Israel about 3,500 years ago in order to regulate their worship and, to some extent, their daily lives. By establishing a few fundamental hygiene guidelines, that Law contributed to preventing illness in the country. One rule like that mandated that human waste be appropriately buried far from the campsite to avoid contaminating the area where people lived. (Deuteronomy 23:12, 13) Still sound guidance is provided by that ancient legislation. Even today, individuals get ill and pass away as a result of not obeying it.

In keeping with the spirit of the Israelite statute, the family's bathroom and toilet area, whether indoors or outside should be kept sanitary and disinfected. Flies will accumulate in an unclean and uncovered toilet area and spread germs to other parts of the house and onto the food we consume! Moreover, after using this location, both children and adults must wash their hands. They otherwise carry pathogens back on their skin. Hand washing, according to a French physician, remains one of the finest assurances for the prevention of some digestive, respiratory, or skin infections.

It is true that it is challenging to keep a poor neighborhood clean. "The oppressively hot temperature makes the cleaning job twice as difficult," explained someone who is familiar with these areas. Every crevice of a house is covered with fine brown powder by dust storms. Health risks are also caused by expanding populations in both cities and some rural areas. Open sewers, stacks of uncollected garbage, unclean communal toilets, rats, cockroaches, and flies that transmit disease have grown commonplace sights.

Under these circumstances, maintaining cleanliness is challenging. Still, it is worthwhile. Medicine and hospital expenses are more expensive than soap and water and a little bit more effort. As much as possible, if you reside in such a setting, keep your yard and house spotless and free of animal droppings. Could gravel or stones be placed down to keep mud out of the house if the path to your property often becomes muddy during rainy spells? Is it possible to take off shoes or sandals before entering the house if they are worn? Furthermore, your water supply needs to be free of contamination. It is thought that diseases linked to contaminated water and inadequate sanitation cause at least two million deaths annually.

The cleanliness of a house depends on everyone in the family, including parents, children, and visitors. One mother of eight kids in Kenya stated, "Everyone has learned to play their role." A tidy, clean home reflects well on the whole family. Cleanliness and poverty do not contradict one another, is a Spanish adage. Cleanliness is crucial for a healthier family, regardless of whether they live in a mansion, an apartment, a modest house, or a shack.
