Everyone in life has some amount of failure to deal with but many people fear it. We talk a lot about success, and we don't talk too much about the many failures, disappointments, mistakes, and setbacks that did not lead to success. The reality is that, failure isn't the end of the road. Sometimes it just is a lesson to prepare you for what is next.
It hurts when you don't succeed in something you tried really hard for. It may be disappointing, embarrassing, discouraging, and even tempting to quit. It may start to make you doubt yourself and think maybe your dreams are still out of reach. But, failing once doesn't mean you will fail the next time. Failure is a thing, not a person.
The worst thing that can happen in life is to be afraid of failing. If you're worried about getting it wrong all the time, you might not pursue the chance to alter your life. Afraid things will not work out is a reason enough to reject a business idea, decline a job offer, refuse to take up a new skill, turn down an education or be unenthusiastic about a dream come true.
However, what if they do?
Experience is gained with each attempt. There is always something to learn from something. Failure can tell you what to do. It can show weaknesses, highlight mistakes, and help you think and plan better. The learner who fails is not going back to where he started, but is moving forward with new knowledge.
Imagine a student who has failed an exam.Imagine that someone has failed an exam. That outcome can be disappointing, but it doesn't necessarily indicate that he or she cannot be successful. They may need to learn a different way to study, improve their time management, practice more and/or guidance. If they learn from it and do it again, the failure is not the end of the story but an integral part of it.
The same applies to the work, relationship, business, school and personal goals. The first plan isn't always successful. The second try doesn't work either. But don't give up just yet! It means that you might have to make some changes to your strategy.
Patience is a key ingredient to success. This is a culture that encourages people to be proud of what they've accomplished without revealing the hardships of their process. Success can seem quick and easy on social media, but it takes time, rejection, failures and persistence to get it done.
So don't let one bad experience deter you from being a success. Take a break as needed, think about it, get better and get back up.
It's okay to get things started again. It's okay to say that something failed. It's what you do after that counts.
This time you might fail, but it will help you tomorrow. You can learn discipline from your setback for your next opportunity. Your disappointment could build up strength to be able to deal with success in the future.
Therefore, don't worry about failure so much that you don't even bother to pursue success. Take the step. Try again. Learn. Improve. Keep moving.
Don't be afraid of failing. Sometimes, a bend in the road towards success you've been hoping for.
