A Romantic Love Story
Chapter 1: The Girl Who Sold Flowers
Ada was a twenty-one-year-old girl who lived with her sick mother in a small house on the outskirts of Lagos, Nigeria. Life had never been easy for her. Since her father died, she had been responsible for paying the bills, buying food, and taking care of her mother.
Every morning, Ada woke up before sunrise, arranged fresh flowers in a basket, and travelled to the city to sell them.
Although she was poor, Ada was honest, respectful, and full of hope. She believed that one day her life would change.
One sunny afternoon, while selling flowers outside a luxury hotel, she noticed a black car pull up near the entrance. A handsome young man stepped out. He wore an expensive suit and carried a leather briefcase.
His name was Michael Williams, the only son of a wealthy businessman. At twenty-eight, Michael owned several companies and lived in a magnificent mansion.
Many women wanted to marry him because of his wealth, but Michael had become tired of people who pretended to love him only for his money.
As he walked towards the hotel, he accidentally knocked into Ada's basket. The flowers fell onto the pavement.
"I'm so sorry!" he said immediately, bending down to help her collect them.
Ada looked at his expensive shoes and shook her head.
"You should be careful where you walk, sir. These flowers are how I earn my living."
Michael was surprised. Most people who recognised him treated him with exaggerated respect. Ada spoke to him as if he were an ordinary person.
"You're right," he admitted. "Please, let me pay for the damaged flowers."
Ada refused to accept extra money.
"Just buy the flowers that are still good. I don't want money I haven't earned."
Michael smiled.
For the first time in a long while, someone had impressed him without even trying.
He bought every flower in her basket.
Before leaving, he asked her name.
"My name is Ada," she replied.
"I'm Michael. I hope I'll see you again."
Ada simply smiled and returned to her work.
She had no idea that their brief meeting would change both their lives.
Chapter 2: The Secret Friendship
The following afternoon, Michael returned to the same place. He told himself that he needed flowers for his mother's birthday, but the truth was that he wanted to see Ada again.
When she saw him, she laughed.
"Sir, are you opening a flower shop? You bought everything yesterday!"
Michael laughed too.
"Perhaps I just like your flowers."
From that day, Michael began visiting her regularly. Sometimes he bought flowers, and sometimes they sat at a nearby café and talked.
Ada told him about her dreams of becoming a nurse. She wanted to help sick people, especially those who could not afford expensive treatment.
Michael listened carefully. Unlike the wealthy people he usually met, Ada never complained about her circumstances or asked him for money.
Instead, she worked hard and remained grateful for what she had.
Michael began to fall in love with her.
However, he kept his wealth a secret. He introduced himself only as a businessman and never mentioned that he owned several companies.
He wanted Ada to know him for who he was, not for the money in his bank account.
One evening, Michael accompanied Ada to her house. When he saw the small building and learned about her mother's illness, his heart ached.
"Why didn't you tell me your mother was sick?" he asked.
"I don't want people to feel sorry for me," Ada answered. "I only want someone to understand me."
Michael looked at her and made a silent promise to himself: he would help her, but he would never make her feel small.
Over the following weeks, their friendship grew stronger. Ada began smiling whenever Michael called, while Michael found himself thinking about her even during important business meetings.
But their happiness was about to face its greatest test.
Chapter 3: The Truth Comes Out
One Saturday, Ada received an invitation to a charity dinner at a luxury hotel. Michael had told her that his company was organising the event and asked her to attend.
She borrowed a simple blue dress from her friend and arrived at the hotel feeling nervous.
The building was beautiful, with shining lights, expensive decorations, and guests dressed in elegant clothes.
As Ada entered the hall, she suddenly heard the master of ceremonies announce:
"Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the owner of Williams Global Group, our special
