HUMAN REACTIONS

My week was incredibly busy and stressful. In fact, I was so occupied that I completely forgot it was Friday. My routine became simple: wake up, work, eat, and sleep. But I'm not complaining, I genuinely love working.

Still, there was one lesson from the week that stayed with me.

As I tried to juggle different tasks like Jack, the Oga of all trades, I had to attend to many customers, most of whom needed their work urgently. I gave it everything I had, but there is only so much one person can do. No matter how hard you try, you have limits.

The rain complicated the issue. Some customers were understandably frustrated.

"I've been waiting for hours."

"I need to defend my project soon."

"My supervisor is leaving today."

In the middle of the rush, I found myself begging and screaming at people to be patient. I even reminded them that I was tired too that I am a human being, not a robot.

The responses were interesting.

Some said, "You're making money, so why are you complaining? I came to pay for a service."

Others simply said, "Well done. You're trying."

Neither response was entirely wrong. In fact, if anyone was at fault, it was probably me for allowing my frustration to show, and not creating a better ecosystem that can attend to customers faster.

But that's not the real reason I'm sharing this experience.

What struck me most was how powerful encouragement can be. Those simple words "Well done. You're trying." didn't reduce my workload, yet they lifted my spirit. They reminded me that someone saw my effort, not just my output.

That made me realize something: compliments and encouragement are often more powerful than we think.

To some extent, we find it hard to compliment other, we rather criticize and complaint. And this as turn most people to frustrated being.

Most people are fighting battles we know nothing about. Especially in a country where many carry the weight of unrealized dreams, financial pressure, uncertainty, and daily struggles, people are already exhausted before they even begin their day, and you just open your month Wahhh to criticize and complain to the extent of condemning.

I mean, there are two ways you can make people do something: either by making them want to do it or by forcing them. Often, we choose the second we force people. We instruct instead of correcting, we impose instead of teaching, and this often creates resentment. Usually, it is not effective.

I promise you, the first is the best and long lasting.

Remember the last time someone complimented your dress, your hair, your nails, or the way you walk. Remember when you were told you are beautiful or handsome. Remember how you checked yourself in the mirror and how happy you felt from within, even in the middle of your problems. Remember the little comfort it brought to your soul, even if only for a moment. Remember when they told you, you smell nice, which perfume do you use, and the next day you applied more perfume and nobody complimented you.

So tell me, what is stopping you from spreading that love around? Why can't you pass it on to others? Imagine everybody try to spread this energy of love around.

When you are asked to give, most times we assume it means money, and many people conclude, "I do not have." But don't you have a mouth? Can't you say beautiful things to people and make their day?

Just like we need more money, we also need more happy people for our society to be balanced.

Dr. Dewey said that the deepest urge in human nature is ‘the desire to be important.’ Remember that phrase: ‘the desire to be important.’ It is significant.

That same week, someone said, "You're looking good. You've even added some weight." Later, another person looked at me and said, "You've lost weight."

I smiled because I'm used to it. People come with different opinions, different complaints, and different compliments. I've learned not to depend on either.

My goal isn't to make you dependent on other people's compliments. Rather, it's to encourage you to become the kind of person who notices the efforts of others. In fact, I don't wait for someone else to compliment me before I appreciate myself.

I just want us to learn, to look beyond your own frustrations and complaints. To see what others may not even see in themselves. Acknowledge their hard work. Recognize their progress. Speak words that inspire confidence rather than discourage.

Sometimes, the greatest gift you can give someone isn't money or advice it's helping them see the value, strength, and potential they already possess.

A genuine compliment may last only a few seconds to say, but its impact can remain in someone's heart for a lifetime.

Imagine how different our communities would be if, instead of looking for faults and reasons to complain, we intentionally looked for opportunities to appreciate effort, encourage perseverance, and acknowledge the humanity in one another.

A sincere compliment costs nothing, but it can restore someone's strength. A few words of encouragement may not solve a person's problems, but they can give them enough hope to keep going.

Perhaps the world doesn't just need more successful people.

Perhaps it needs more people who notice, appreciate, and encourage others.

This is why we are better them animal, empathy and love makes us human. Just note, immediately you stop seeing the need to compliment and appreciate other, just know you are turning to wild animal, and you will eat up all your relationship with people.
