GOODBYE, MAMA — UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN
Mama, the morning came, but you were not there,
The house feels so empty, the silence unfair;
Your chair sits quietly, your memories remain,
And every small corner still whispers your name.
I search for your footsteps, I listen for you,
But all that I hear is the silence come through.
How can I say goodbye to the woman I knew,
When every beat of my heart still belongs partly to you?
You were my shelter when storms filled the sky,
The hand that would hold me whenever I'd cry;
Your voice was a vessel of comfort and grace,
Your smile could bring sunshine to brighten my days.
You taught me to stumble, to stand and be strong,
To know right from wrong and to carry along.
You gave without counting, you loved without end,
You were not just my mother—you were my best friend.
Now tears are the language my heart cannot hide,
They fall like soft rain with your memory inside.
I would trade all my tomorrows for one yesterday,
Just to hear you call my name in that beautiful way.
One more embrace, one more laugh, one more “my child,”
One more precious moment, tender and mild.
But though death has taken your hand from my own,
It can never take the love that you've grown.
Your blood is in mine, your lessons remain,
Your prayers are my strength when I walk through the pain.
In every good choice, I will carry your light,
In every dark valley, I'll remember your fight.
And when I care for those you taught me to love,
I'll feel your presence like a blessing above.
Though my eyes cannot see you, my heart still can—
You live in the person you've helped me become.
So sleep now, dear Mama, beneath peaceful skies,
Where sorrow is finished and no more tears rise.
Rest from your battles, your burdens, your pain,
May heaven's bright morning receive you again.
I won't say goodbye as though love has an end,
I'll say, “Thank you, my mother, my guardian, my friend.”
And when my own journey has reached its last mile,
I pray that I'll find you beyond every trial.
Until then, I'll love you through each passing year,
Through birthdays and sunsets, through laughter and tears.
Your name will be spoken, your story retold,
Your love in my heart will never grow old.
You left this world, Mama, but never my soul—
For mothers may leave us, but their love makes us whole.
So rest, my sweet mother, my first home, my guide—
I will carry you with me until the day I stand by your side. ❤️
