Peace as a river runs through my soul,
Silently mending that which life had broken.
By thunderstorms and the winds,
Gives me strength when I feel weak.
When rough seas arise my feet are troubled,
And all the roads appear to be difficult,
I lift my eyes beyond the pain,
Bearing in mind that the sun will shine after the rain.
Gentle and deep is peace like a river,
Protects my heart when I see I have nothing to do.
It says softly, “Do not fear;”
There is a way on which He has walked for every battle.
If friends abandon me and my dreams are shattered,If friends forsake me, and my counsellors fail me,
When heavy burdens make my heart ache,
I recall the faithful God that never fails,
When all else is lacking, whose love is left?
Let the world be noisy; I will be quiet!
I know that my life is in His will.
No matter what tomorrow may bring,
My heart will trust my everlasting King.
Peace like a river, flowing so free,
With a hope and a faith in my heart.
In all thy valleys, in all thy trials,
God's peace will keep me strong for a while.
So let this peace within me grow,
As a strong stream ever running.
Wherever life's journey goes,
Let God's peace be all that I need.
