SOLEMN VOW
Today, I stand before you, not because I have seen every chapter of our story, but because I have found someone with whom I am willing to turn every page.
I stand here with no promise that the sun will always shine, no assurance that the road will never bend, and no guarantee that we will always understand the language of each other's hearts. But I stand here with a decision, a conviction, and a solemn vow that when the beauty of today becomes the reality of tomorrow, I will still choose you.
I choose you beyond the butterflies, beyond the flowers, beyond the music that fills this room and the applause that celebrates this union. I choose you beyond the beauty of this moment, because I understand that marriage is more than a beautiful ceremony. It is a covenant, a daily decision to love, a commitment to grow, and a promise to remain when remaining requires more than feelings.
So today, I vow to love you when love feels effortless and when it demands everything I have. I vow to hold your hand when the world celebrates you and to hold you closer when the world misunderstands you. I vow to be your companion in seasons of uncertainty, your encouragement when your dreams seem distant, and your reminder that you do not have to face the weight of this world alone.
I cannot promise that I will never hurt you, but I promise to humble myself enough to apologise. I cannot promise that I will never misunderstand you, but I promise to listen beyond the words you speak and pay attention to the feelings you struggle to explain. I cannot promise that I will always have the right answers, but I promise that I will not allow my pride to become louder than my willingness to understand you.
And when the days come when we must learn each other all over again, when life introduces us to versions of ourselves we have never met, I pray we will remember that the people standing at this altar today will continue to grow. I pray we will give each other room to become, grace to learn, and patience to change.
I want to know the dreams you are afraid to say aloud, the burdens you have learned to carry in silence, and the prayers you whisper when no one is listening. I want to celebrate the victories that make you smile and sit beside you through the disappointments that leave you searching for words. I want to be more than the person who shares your bed; I want to be the person with whom you can share your truth.
I vow to build a home where peace is not a stranger, where honesty is not a threat, and where vulnerability is not mistaken for weakness. A home where we can disagree without destroying each other, where correction does not become condemnation, and where forgiveness is not an excuse to repeat our mistakes but an opportunity to become better.
And when the storms come, as storms sometimes do, may we remember that we are not enemies standing on opposite sides of a battlefield. We are two people standing on the same side, facing a challenge together.
When the world becomes too loud, may our home remain a place of refuge. When our strength becomes insufficient, may we remember to pray. When our wisdom reaches its limits, may we seek God's direction. And when we forget why we began, may His presence remind us of the covenant we made and the love we promised to nurture.
For I do not want a marriage that merely looks beautiful before people. I want a marriage that honours God in private. A love that is sincere when no one is watching, a commitment that remains faithful when applause is absent, and a union that reflects the grace, patience, and selflessness of Christ.
And when our hair turns grey, when our steps become slower, and when our hands no longer possess the strength they have today, may the love we have nurtured remain strong enough to tell our story.
May our wrinkles become evidence of the years we have shared, our laughter a reminder of the joy we have cultivated, and our memories a testimony that we did not merely exist beside each other; we lived, we learned, we forgave, and we loved.
And until the music fades, until the seasons change, until our last sunset paints the sky, and until forever becomes eternity, let this be the truth we carry in our hearts
Until forever becomes eternity, my love, I choose you.
