Beauty has boundaries too
I look soft, they say,
but I had to learn to protect myself.
So my thorns grew
so high that I ended up
wounding people.
I became a garden
no one could enter barefoot.
No one believed it
until they tried.
But I didn't care anyway.
The rose in my garden
had too many thorns,
yet I never failed to touch them.
It hurt me,
but I couldn't let go,
because I realized
the thorns had taught me something.
Just because something has thorns
doesn't mean it's ugly.
Beauty needs boundaries too.
Maybe the thorns
were never meant to make me cruel.
Maybe they were there
to remind me that softness
doesn't mean allowing everyone in.
So if you really want
to walk through my garden,
you have to understand
that you might get pierced
by the thorns.
Not because I want to hurt you,
but because I learned
that even beautiful things
need protection.
And maybe,
if you are patient enough,
you'll learn to admire the rose
without trying to tear it apart. And maybe,
if you are patient enough,
you'll learn to admire the rose
without trying to tear it apart.
