She Rejected Him Because He Had No Job—Three Years Later, She Saw Him Again

Daniel had always thought that love meant being able to understand, be patient, and be there for each other when things get hard.

He was wrong, or at least that's what he thought after Sarah broke up with him.

They had been dating for almost two years. During college, they met and became close friends. Eventually, they fell in love. Daniel worked hard and had big goals, but things got tough after he graduated.

He sent in a lot of job applications.

He went to interviews.

He sent his CV to businesses, schools, and other groups.

Still, nothing worked.

Months went by, and Daniel still didn't have a job.

At first, Sarah told him to keep going.

She would tell him, "Don't worry." "Something will happen in the end."

But she changed how she felt over time.

They sat together at a quiet restaurant one nite. Sarah looked very serious for no reason.

She asked Daniel, "Where do you see yourself in three years?"

Daniel gave a smile.

"I want to get a good job, start my own business, and make my life stable."

Sarah took a quick look at him.

"You've said that for almost two years."

Daniel stopped talking.

"I know things are hard, but I'm trying."

She turned her head away.

"I feel like I can't keep going with this relationship."

Daniel looked at her.

"Why?"

She said, "I need someone with a future." "You don't have a job." You don't have a steady source of income. "I'm not sure where this relationship is going."

Daniel didn't think those words would hurt so much.

Though he begged her, Sarah was already set on not giving him any more time.

They broke up.

Daniel was very sad for a few days. He felt rejected, ashamed, and let down. He could have blamed Sarah for months, but in the end he asked himself something else:

"Now what am I going to do with my life?"

Everything changed because of that question.

Daniel stopped hoping that someone would give him a chance.

He signed up for a professional course. He got better at using computers, learned digital marketing, and started to look into how online businesses worked.

He began small.

He made fliers for businesses in the area. He was in charge of social media pages. He made easy websites and helped small business owners get the word out about their goods.

At first, there wasn't much money.

He worked for days at a time before getting paid.

Even so, he kept learning.

He kept everything he could.

He put more money back into his work.

His small business grew over time.

One client put him in touch with another. Then another.

Daniel built a successful digital services business with several employees in just three years.

He went to a business meeting one Saturday afternoon.

He heard a familiar voice behind him as he walked into the hall.

"Daniel?"

He turned around.

It was Sarah.

They didn't say anything for a short time.

Sarah smiled and looked at him.

"I've heard you've been doing great."

Daniel gave a nice smile.

"I worked really hard."

She wished him well, and they briefly talked about their lives.

Sarah told him, "I never knew you would become this successful," before they left.

Daniel smiled once more.

"Neither did I. But I learned that what happened to me at one point didn't have to change who I was forever."

He left without getting angry.

Daniel had learned something very important.

Just because you don't have a job right now doesn't mean you never will. You won't always be broke just because you're broke now. If you fail today, that doesn't mean you can't succeed tomorrow.

It can be very painful to be turned down, but it can also help us find skills we didn't know we had.

What's happening to you now is just a part of your story; it's not always the end.

Continue to learn. Do your best. Keep getting better. The way things are now doesn't determine your future for sure.
